What is the opportunity?
The Payment Products Delivery and Integration team plays a pivotal cross-functional role by managing strategic payments initiatives, governing critical third party payment partnerships, ensuring compliance and risk management and providing expert payment ecosystem expertise.
The Industry Affairs team plays a critical role in advancing RBC's payments strategies by fostering strategic partnerships, supporting operational excellence, managing third-party relationships, and ensuring compliance with payment networks.
As part of the Industry Affairs team, this role will be responsible for managing day-to-day industry affairs for RBC and supporting the management of the bank's strategic third-party relationships. It ensures RBC's adherence to regulatory frameworks while driving initiatives that mitigate risk, enhance client satisfaction and align with broader business strategies.
The position serves as a cornerstone for maintaining RBC's reputation through expert guidance, dispute resolution, and compliance management and enabling robust performance across Canada's critical payment systems. This role offers a unique opportunity to develop deep expertise in domestic and international payment ecosystem.
What will you do?
Guides business and process owners to ensure RBC compliance with payments, clearing, and settlement regulations, mitigating risks and supporting business goals.
Supports the creation of RBC's positions and research papers on payments, clearing, and settlement topics.
Financial management and reporting for assigned third-party relationships, including invoice reconciliation, cost/fee tracking, and distributing third-party reports and insights internally, with analysis and follow-up support.
Lead for annual attestations for Payments Canada and Bank of Canada (HABS).
Acts as alternate Dispute Resolution Officer, reviewing Pre-Authorized Debit Agreements for compliance with Payments Canada rules.
Collaborates on Digital Cheque Processing changes and initiatives with stakeholders.
Monitors cheque processing trends (e.g., fraud, errors) and liaise with internal and external partners.
Leads assigned small projects related to industry initiatives and provides coverage and support to the Payment Products Delivery and Integration team members as required.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have:
Payments Industry Expertise: Strong understanding of Canadian/global payments, including emerging trends and technologies.
RBC Knowledge: Familiarity with RBC payment products, systems, operations, and procedures.
Communication & Stakeholder Skills: Exceptional presentation, facilitation, and verbal/written communication abilities; senior-level stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration.
Analytical & Problem-Solving: Strong analytical mindset, investigative skills, and ability to dissect complex problems with multi-stakeholder resolution.
Project Management: Basic project management skills (small projects), with knowledge of Agile and Waterfall methodologies; flexibility to adapt as needed.
Technical & Educational Foundation: Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience; working knowledge of Microsoft applications.
