Position Type: Term (36.25 hours per week)
Duration: May 2026 to July 2027
Location: Any NBCC campus
Salary Range: $2,271.00 to $3,176.00 bi-weekly
Reporting to the Manager, Health, Safety, Security and Environment, the Energy and Sustainability Coordinator will be accountable for the development and implementation of a college-wide energy and sustainability initiatives which support NBCC's Operations.
This position will be responsible for providing analytical and administrative support to sustainable operations, tracking and analysis of building utilities and assisting with analysis and supporting the development of promotional and educational information.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Collaborate with utilities and external partners to proactively identify, pursue, and obtain energy and sustainability rebates, incentives, and subsidies, supporting energy‑saving initiatives across the College.
- Maintaining NBCC's utility information in the Portfolio Manager Program; collecting and analyzing information on emissions, utility demands and consumption; and making recommendations on project sustainability and operational considerations to improve performance.
- Working with third party energy consultants to assess project viability from an energy perspective and audit purposes.
- Collaborate with internal departments to support energy management and sustainability initiatives.
- Maintain and steward the College's Climate Action Strategy 2026-2030, supporting implementation, monitoring, and ongoing updates.
- Represent NBCC as member on external committees and advisory groups.
- Maintain the College's energy and sustainability dashboard to support performance monitoring, reporting, and informed decision‑making.
- Compile, analyze, and produce quarterly and annual reports for senior management on energy and sustainability performance.
- Supporting and keeping track of ongoing energy and sustainability projects and keeping record of impacts and benefits from an energy savings perspective. Analyzing data, and interpreting trends and statistics as required to support deliverables.
Education & Experience:
- Certificate, Diploma or Degree from a post-secondary institution in a related field with relevant years of experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, Power Point), Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Teams and SharePoint.
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral) with both clients and colleagues, and strong attention to detail.
- Strong presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and proactively solve problems independently and in a team environment.
- Knowledge and experience of sustainable building practices is an asset.
- Experience in an academic environment is an asset.
- Experience with Portfolio Manager would be considered an asset.
