We are searching for a Production Kitchen Supervisor to join our Harbourstone Enhanced Care team based in Sydney, Nova Scotia.

About the Opportunity
- Supervises departmental staff; outlines work assignments, provides training where necessary and completes performance discussions;
- Works directly with departmental staff to ensure that food is prepared and ready for delivery as scheduled while maintaining food quality standards;
- Assists facilities in accommodating special requests, order additions and menu changes as required;
- Monitors and coordinates the use of overproduction; adjusts recipes or item counts to minimize overproduction and waste;
- Performs job-specific requirements such as menu development, bakery production, cost tracking and more;
- Supports cost controls for food, supplies, chemicals and equipment used in the Production Kitchen;
- Assists with establishing, monitoring and evaluating work routines (food production, food service, cleaning, security) for Production Kitchen staff;
- Prepares daily paperwork for departmental staff including panning reports, pull sheets, recipes and other forms as required;
- Prepares weekly and monthly reports (indicators, audits, expenses, etc.) as required; maintains menu forms, production schedules, and other food service related information;
- Assists Kitchen Production Manager in estimating quantity of food and supplies required for daily and weekly use.
About You
In addition to placing high value on continuous improvement, collaboration and accountability, you bring:
- An undergraduate degree in Human Nutrition or related field;
- Two years' experience as food service supervisor in an institutional setting;
- Basics Food Safety Training/ Food Handlers Course.
- A passion for the healthcare sector and/or ensuring seniors have access to quality accommodations, services and care.
- Previous long-term care experience;
- Knowledge of quantity food preparation;
- Knowledge of principles of sanitation, health and safety practices pertaining to food service delivery; and
- Ability to supervise and train assigned staff including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
