Job Summary
The Psychologist will play a key leadership role in the development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of a four-bed provincial inpatient Eating Disorder Program located on Level 4 MHAC. This position involves supporting the coordination of Eating Disorder Services across the full continuum of care, ensuring integration between inpatient, outpatient, and medical settings.
The successful candidate will provide clinical leadership to an interdisciplinary team, including nursing and allied health professionals, while fostering evidence-based practice and continuous program improvement. In addition to delivering specialized psychological assessment and treatment, the Psychologist will contribute to program development, research, and quality initiatives within the service.
Clinical responsibilities span the eating disorder continuum, with a primary focus on inpatient care, as well as opportunities for consultation and collaboration with medical units involved in the care of individuals with eating disorders. The role offers flexibility to adapt to evolving service needs and supports innovation in service delivery and patient care.
This position reports to the Program Manager, Level 4 MHAC and maintains accountability to the Psychology Professional Practice Consultant for professional integrity and practice issues.

Uses fine finger/precision work when on the computer and visual concentration is required when in sessions with patients (i.e. reviewing patient charts/notes, tests and for documenting work, and when reading or researching information).
Visual concentration is required to interpret patient observations and integrate into patient evaluation.
Auditory concentration is constantly required in sessions with patients to listen attentively, to be alert and to obtain and interpret information correctly.
A higher-than-normal level of attentiveness is required when assessing high risk patients.
Job Qualifications
Graduation with an approved/recognized Doctorate Degree in Clinical Psychology is required.
Current and continuing registration or provisional registration with Newfoundland and Labrador Psychology Board is required.
Graduate course work and supervised experience in psychological assessment and therapy with individuals, families, and groups with a specific focus on individuals with eating disorders is required.
Previous experience supervising Doctoral level residents is preferred.
Exhibited strong communication, program development and evaluation skills.
Possessed strong leadership and supervisory skills that are focused on engaging others and developing coalitions.
Demonstrated ability to provide strong and comprehensive clinical support, training and mentorship to Clinical Psychologists II's and other supervisees.
Possessed strong analytical, critical reasoning, collaboration, problem solving, decision-making and organizational skills.
Demonstrated ability to effectively translate and communicate knowledge in the specialized area of psychology practice to others.
Demonstrated ability to conduct research, deliver lectures/clinical education sessions and provide clinical direction and consultation within an interprofessional environment.
Ability to work autonomously, prioritizing caseloads and client needs.
Demonstrated ability and willingness to participle in the clinical training activities of the psychology discipline.
Demonstrated strong awareness of ethical principles and standards of professional conduct.
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
