The Manager contributes to the overall success of Global Finance, Regulatory Risk and Governance (1B), Internal Control Testing, monitoring and quality control team, ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives. In this role, you will ensure all activities conducted comply with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

The position requires understanding of controls testing and frameworks, financial and regulatory reporting environment, and knowledge of finance and banking.

The incumbent will support the execution of independent first line testing and ongoing monitoring activities across Global Finance to assess whether key controls supporting financial and regulatory reporting are designed and operating effectively.

Is This Role Right for You? In this role, you will:

  • Execute internal controls testing engagements, issue validation, and ongoing monitoring of risk indicators across Global Finance, in line with the 1-B mandate.
  • Manage the end-to-end test execution of designated programs/engagements using standardized methodologies, ensuring accurate, high?quality, and well?documented results.
  • Identify and analyze control issues by analyzing root causes, clearly documenting links to underlying risks and providing input to assessments of control effectiveness to support risk?based prioritization.
  • Clearly and concisely document and articulate control testing activities, results and conclusions through high?quality written communications for Management and key stakeholders.
  • Perform ongoing monitoring activities to support early identification of control weaknesses or emerging risks. Including maintenance of monitoring trackers, dashboards, and status summaries.
  • Take accountability for assigned responsibilities and remain flexible to support broader or ad hoc accountabilities aligned to RRG team.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across Compliance, Internal Audit, and other Global Finance Teams.
  • Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, and its Code of Conduct, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, and conduct risk.

Do You Have the Skills?

  • Business/Accounting degree/designation and/or +3 years of relevant experience within a large financial institution in one or more of the following areas: Audit, Testing, Internal Controls, Financial Reporting and/or FI Regulatory Reporting.
  • Professional Accounting designation is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI etc.).
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting (including IFRS), solid understanding of financial, management and regulatory reporting principles; knowledgeable of the Bank's products, operations, and procedures.
  • Strong understanding of risk and internal controls affecting finance, accounting, and regulatory matters, particularly controls testing methodology and related tools
  • Excellent analytical skills—able to review, interpret, and synthesize data to investigate potential exceptions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across all levels of an organization.
  • Highly organized and adept at managing multiple projects concurrently, remaining calm and focused amid competing priorities.
  • Flexible and adaptable, able to collaborate across diverse stakeholder groups and business units.
