In this role, you will contribute to the overall success of the Asset and Liability Management / Group Treasury globally ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives. You will ensure all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

Ensure the monthly & weekly production of GAP, NII, EVE, Stress Testing under B12 (IRRBB), KRD, and Basis Risk, as well as supports Financial Note Disclosure reporting relating to Structural Interest Rate Risk, the contractual maturity and FMV disclosure.

Perform analysis on the NII & EVE exposure of various asset and liability products of the Bank.

The incumbent is responsible for coordinating various stakeholders, business lines and business partners with regards to business & market-driven projects, and research & development of new analytics to improve the Bank's asset and liability management paradigm.

This role would also be responsible for coordinating and/or executing the implementation of methods, systems, and processes applied to ALM reporting; identifying any user findings and raise these within the broader group in the Treasury function to ensure synergies and business requirements are optimized.

Knowledge and understanding of regulatory requirements and responsibilities will also be required.

Overtime should be anticipated at times during quarter-end and year-end reporting periods.

Is This Role Right for You? In this role, you will:

  • Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Work with other managers in preparing monthly & weekly SIRR reports of GAP, NII, EVE, KRD, and variance analysis & commentary, and stress testing under OSFI B12 (IRRBB) guidelines.
  • Support MD&A and Financial Note Disclosure reporting relating to Structural Interest Rate Risk and FMV disclosure.
  • Support monthly & quarterly ALM model process with parameters setup, model configuration/computing, variance analysis, reconciliation, troubleshooting and documentation.
  • Assist in the end-to-end ALM SIRR analysis for Parent Bank (PB) units.
  • Support ALM SIRR analysis by performing reasonability check on NII and EVE MoM movements, data quality checks, impacts from changes in yields, FX, structural changes and determine drivers of month over month variances.
  • Spearhead both current and future projects pertaining to ALM by coordinating with project & technology teams, business units, treasury & risk teams, finance, and perform necessary development & testing.
  • Study and research ALM model methodology and configuration; help to review methodology/configuration and test impacts; help to work with stakeholders on model/parameters review and update.
  • On an ongoing basis, improve the quality, timeliness and effectiveness of interest rate risk reporting and analysis by ensuring that they continue to meet the needs of ALM in terms of content, frequency, timelines and detail.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do You Have the Skills?

  • 3+ years work experience, preferably in the Finance Industry, Business Analyst experience is an asset
  • Advanced-level skills in Excel and SQL are required
  • Related post-undergraduate degree or designation (e.g. CPA, CFA, FRM, MBA) an asset
  • Knowledge in ALM applications (e.g. QRM) an asset
  • Knowledge in data visualization (e.g. PowerBI) an asset
  • Knowledge in coding (e.g. Python) an asset
  • Self-starter with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong team player with excellent communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task, attain deadlines, perform well under pressure, and change priorities as needed
