Red Seal Endorsement Skilled Trades Instructors

3 Part-time Term Contract Positions:

  • 1 Carpentry Instructor
  • 1 Electrical Instructor
  • 1 Plumbing Instructor

The Joint Economic Development Initiative (JEDI) is dedicated to supporting Indigenous peoples in reaching their full economic development potential through advocacy and networking. The Skilled Trades Instructors will contribute to the success of JEDI's Indigenous Skilled Trades Readiness program. The current program will be delivered in northern New Brunswick and the preference is for candidates to be located in the north of the Province, however, applications from other areas in the Province may be considered and/or used to fill future vacancies. The program is expected to start in June and to conclude in August. Each Instructor will instruct in their respective skilled trade for 4 weeks and will attend the final week of the program for review and wrap-up for a total of 5 weeks.

Responsibilities

  • Planning and preparation of instructional materials and resources.
  • Establishing and managing a positive learning environment.
  • Instructing and evaluating students.
  • Building and sustaining professional relationships with students, JEDI staff, community partners, and stakeholders.
  • Other program-related duties as required.
  • Specific instructional areas and courses within the program may include, but are not limited to:
  • Trade-specific Theory and Practice
  • Tools and Equipment
  • Safety

Qualifications

  • Certificate of Qualification as a Journeyperson (Red Seal) in Carpentry or Electrical or Plumbing is required, with a minimum of three (3) years of related recent work experience at the Journeyperson's level preferred.
  • Knowledge of New Brunswick's apprenticeship system is an asset.
  • Highly flexible with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to build relationships effectively.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Self-motivated, service and results oriented.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and within a team.
  • Preference may be given to candidates who have experience working in a post-secondary environment.
  • Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel as required.
  • Possess or be willing to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Background check.

Rate of pay is $33.00-$52.00 per hour.
