Maintenance Worker - Student (Temporary, Full-Time)

Nakile Home for Special Care is a fully licensed 48-bed long-term care facility, priding itself in offering a friendly, bright, home-like living experience to seniors in the Argyle and surrounding areas since 1989. Nakile maintains a reputation as one of the finest long-term care facilities in Western Nova Scotia. We are currently seeking one temporary (Approximately 8 weeks) Maintenance Worker (Summer Student) to join the Nakile family.

Hours of Work
40-hours per week (may include weekdays, weekends, holidays and occasional evening and night shifts)

Responsibilities
The Maintenance team reports to the Director of Environmental Services & Maintenance. This position plays an integral role in supporting the many aspects of maintaining our nursing home both interior and exterior. The ability to maintain a positive attitude and demonstrate a willingness to solve problems and learn will be considered an asset. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, along with the ability to stay organized while multi-tasking are a requirement. Duties will be performed in accordance with the Mission, Vision, Values, Standards, Policies and Procedures of Nakile Home for Special Care. NHSC is committed to person centered care, resident safety, continued quality improvement, and advancing the delivery of safe and trusted health services.

  • Currently enrolled in school
  • Comfortable using, or learning to use, small equipment and tools
  • Regular availability is required
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding residents, staff, and organization
  • The following will be considered assets:
    • Previous experience working in a Long-Term Care Facility
    • Work experience in general maintenance (interior/exterior)

Rate of Pay: Minimum Wage

Start Date: June 8, 2026 (approximately)
