Definition of work:
The Laboratory Technologist works primarily in the General Laboratory performing all duties related to Hematology, Microbiology, Histology, Blood Transfusion, Chemistry, and Phlebotomy sections. The successful candidate may be required to rotate in different sections of the laboratory with shift duties or rotate on weekends and statutory holidays as required. The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-and family-centered care, demonstrate a commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements.
Required qualifications:
? Graduation from high school with a diploma recognized by the Newfound-land and Labrador Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.
? Successful completion of an approved 3-year program in General Laboratory Technology with a General MLT Certificate from the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS).
? Current and continued licensure with the Newfoundland and Labrador Council of Health Professionals (NLCHP).
? Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
? Demonstrated attention to detail and organizational skills
? Demonstrated ability to multi-task and work effectively in a team environment.
? Demonstrated ability to work with high degree of independence.

? A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position
? A satisfactory certificate of conduct from the RCMP or local police authority.
