ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

NL Health Services ? Central Zone is seeking a Locum Internal Medicine Physician to join the team at James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre in Gander, NL. The successful candidate will provide the full scope of Internal Medicine services as part of a collaborative team of physicians, technologists, and nurses at one of Central Zone's key referral centres.

Services include inpatient consultation, emergency and critical care on-call, and outpatient clinics ? including the option to participate in diabetes clinics and exercise stress testing. Physicians with a subspecialty are encouraged to apply and discuss the outpatient services they wish to offer. On-call commitments including weekends and holidays are shared equitably among all Internists.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Eligible for registration and licensure as an Internist with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (www.cpsnl.ca)
  • Medical Degree (MD) from a recognized institution
  • Must satisfy credentialing requirements of NL Health Services including a satisfactory criminal record check and vulnerable sector check
  • Satisfactory record of work performance and attendance
  • Work experience is an asset
  • Approved licensure pathways exist for specialists from Ireland, the UK, USA, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, and other CPSNL-approved jurisdictions ? visit www.cpsnl.ca for eligibility details

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide full scope of Internal Medicine services including inpatient consultation and ongoing patient management
  • Provide emergency and critical care on-call coverage including weekends and holidays
  • Deliver outpatient clinic services including diabetes clinics and exercise stress testing as applicable
  • Offer subspecialty outpatient services where applicable
  • Work collaboratively within a regional interdisciplinary team
  • Support person- and family-centered care; promote patient and worker safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks, and implementing improvements
