ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
NL Health Services ? Central Zone is seeking Locum Hospitalist Physicians to provide coverage at two sites ? James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre in Gander and Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor, NL. The Locum Hospitalist is responsible for providing comprehensive inpatient medical care to adult patients, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of acute and complex medical conditions, as well as collaboration in discharge planning and transitions of care.
The Hospitalist functions as the Most Responsible Physician (MRP) for assigned patients and works closely with multidisciplinary team members to ensure safe, high-quality, patient-centred care. The role involves participation in a structured hospitalist model, including scheduled daytime clinical coverage and shared call responsibilities. The Hospitalist will manage a defined inpatient census, provide consultation support as required, and contribute to after-hours coverage in accordance with departmental scheduling.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Eligible for licensure as a Family Physician with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (www.cpsnl.ca)
- Must satisfy credentialing and privilege requirements of NL Health Services Central Zone
- Satisfactory Certificate of Conduct from the RCMP or local police authority
- Satisfactory record of work performance and attendance
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Function as the Most Responsible Physician (MRP) for an assigned inpatient census
- Provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute and complex medical conditions in adult inpatients
- Collaborate in discharge planning and transitions of care
- Participate in structured daytime clinical coverage and shared after-hours call
- Provide consultation support as required
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary team members
- Support person- and family-centered care; promote patient and worker safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks, and implementing improvements
