Title: Senior Protection, Gender and Inclusion and Community Engagement and Accountability (PGIE) Advisor

Employee Working Location: Partially Virtual / Hybrid (anywhere within Canada)

Employment Status: Temporary Full-time (Until 31 March 2027)

In this role, you will:

  • Provide strategic and technical leadership to ensure protection, gender equality, social inclusion, community engagement and accountability and safeguarding are integrated across international operations in line with Red Cross Red Crescent standards and international best practices.
  • Support program teams and partner National Societies to mainstream PGIE in program design and development, implementation and monitoring, ensuring dignity, access, participation and safety for all.
  • Strengthen systems to identify, prevent, mitigate and respond to protection risks, including violence, exploitation and abuse, through appropriate reporting, referral and case management mechanisms.
  • Provide guidance on safe and ethical community engagement, including the use of sex, age and disability disaggregated data to inform decision making.
  • Build capacity of National Societies and program teams through institutionalization, coaching, mentoring, the design of PGIE tools and training to strengthen PGIE core competencies.
  • Provide surge support and deploy as required to support emergency operations and PGIE mainstreaming in complex contexts.
  • Collaborate with PMER, Health and other technical teams to ensure accountability to affected populations and integrated programming.
  • Contribute to operational planning, risk analysis, donor reporting and coordination with Movement and external partners on PGIE priorities.

What we are looking for:

  • Master's degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in protection, gender equality and inclusion and community engagement and accountability within humanitarian settings, including experience in an advisory role.
  • Demonstrated experience applying humanitarian protection, gender, inclusion and engagement standards in diverse contexts.
  • Experience establishing or strengthening safeguarding, incident management, reporting and referral systems.
  • Strong knowledge of results-based management and monitoring frameworks, including accountability to affected populations.
  • Experience working in cross-cultural environments and supporting partner organizations.
  • Experience working with Global Affairs Canada (GAC)-funded programs is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical, facilitation and advisory skills with the ability to influence across teams.
  • Fluency in English and French is required.
