NLTA ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER: PROGRAMS AND SERVICES

FULL-TIME TERM POSITION - AUGUST 1, 2026 TO JULY 31, 2027 (possibility of extension)

The Newfoundland and Labrador Teachers' Association is a union and professional organization of teachers with more than 6,500 members. The mandate is the protection and support of members, and the advancement of public K-12 education.

POSITION:

We are seeking a highly motivated, well organized, and flexible individual to fill the role of Administrative Officer in Programs and Services. This is a full-time, term position effective August 1, 2026 to July 31, 2027 (with possibility of extension).

Administrative Officers on the Programs and Services team have a high level of responsibility, and are tasked with the development, implementation and coordination of programs and services in the areas of Benefits and Economic Services and Professional Development Services, in accordance with the NLTA mission statement and Association policy.

An Administrative Officer is responsible for advising and representing NLTA members in employment related matters, collective agreement administration, advising Provincial Executive, and supporting Association governance structures, including Association committees, on matters within their area of assigned responsibility pertaining to NLTA policy and NLTA programs and services.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EXPERIENTIAL

  • Skills in leadership, interpersonal relations, organization, excellent oral and written communication, attention to detail, and an ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding professional context are essential.
  • Knowledge of the K-12 education system and public-school context unionized professional work environments, the collective agreements and terms and conditions of employment for teachers, and experience in leading professional development activities and giving presentations are desired.
  • Experience and demonstrated proficiency in the areas of labour relations and human resources and the ability to communicate in French are considered assets.

ACADEMIC

  • A university degree in Labour Relations, Human Resource Development, Law, Education or a related field would be desirable, but an equivalent combination of experience and training will be considered.
