The Opportunity

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Financial Reporting, the Corporate Accountant is a member of the Finance team and plays a key role in the preparation and review of NSPI's financial results and reporting.
Key elements of this role include:
Responsibilities
- Supporting the monthly, quarterly and annual financial close processes to ensure financial results are complete and accurate,
- Supporting the monthly processing and reporting of affiliate transactions,
- Preparation and/or review of account reconciliations and related financial analysis,
- Completion of monthly internal control procedures in a timely manner,
- Assisting with the preparation of the Company's quarterly and annual external Financial Statements, Notes and Management Discussion and Analysis; as well as other quarterly deliverables,
- Assisting the Company's external auditors during the quarterly reviews and annual audit,
- Working with other departments to provide information as required, and
- Other accounting and special project responsibilities as assigned.
The successful candidate will be responsible for personal safety and that of co-workers by observing all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.

Qualifications
- The successful candidate will have a bachelor's degree in business administration or commerce with a minimum of five years of progressive experience with monthly, quarterly and annual financial close processes and reporting.
- You will possess or be enrolled in a program to obtain a professional accounting designation. A related combination of experience and education will be considered.
- You will have experience with financial reporting systems and with Excel (knowledge of Oracle would be considered an asset).
- You must be highly motivated, adept in technical accounting, detailed oriented and possess strong leadership, analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
- You are able to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven, team-focused environment with the ability to handle multiple deliverables and work independently under tight deadlines.
- The successful candidate also possesses solid business acumen with a strong customer focus and is innovative, with the ability to identify and implement process improvements.
