Summary

Reporting to the Director or Chief of Management, the incumbent of this position is responsible for the engineering design and integration of Data Network solutions meeting needs expressed by the client. He/She will be responsible for analyzing our clients' needs, proposing solutions, and designing them.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect information related to telecommunication needs expressed by the client. Analyze and recommend solutions. Participate to develop thorough proposals including technical and financial elements.
• Design engineering for network solutions for projects. Produce drawings and specifications for achievement of tasks related to the selected solution. Make sure of good solution integration in the customer environment and processes
• Documents solutions specifications to help the Operations team in managing the client network
• Prepare technical configurations to be executed by technicians.
• Assist when required during night and/or weekend implementation windows.
• Ensure the preparation for the handover of solutions to the operations team in "Day 2" mode.
• Coordinate the technical activities required for the implementation of the solution chosen by the client. Ensure follow-up so that the terms of the plan are respected.
• Propose upgrades, improvements, or technological changes to maintain the network infrastructure as operational and performant.
• Produce test plans for the introduction of new solutions. Produce test plans and ensures technical trials are conducted. Documents anomalies following new implementations and manages their correction.
• Lead projects involving colleagues from the Engineering and/or Operations team.
• Produce and writes technical reports for the client or management upon request.
• As part of a continuous improvement approach, contribute to process improvement initiatives typically associated with change quality and efficiency.
• Act as a technical coach for less senior colleagues.
• Act as a technical expert and advisor to operational groups within their area of expertise
• Tack in charge, when required, complex problems resolution

Critical Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering, with a specialization in telecommunications, IT, or equivalent.
• Minimum five (8) years of relevant experience in Information Technology, specifically in telecommunications.
• Proven professional experience in applying design thinking in an Agile work environment.
• Knowledge of Cloud Native concepts.
• Knowledge of SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) practices.
• Knowledge of information security systems such as firewalls, IPS and DDoS prevention would be an asset.
• Strong hands-on scripting and programming experience in Python, Ansible, shell, or equivalent.
• Strong technical leadership, teamwork, negotiation, and technical decision-making skills.
• Very good knowledge of Cisco and Arista products (certifications would be an asset).
• Good knowledge of Palo Alto and Meraki products would be an asset.
• Solid experience in Data Transmission Network projects.
• Very good knowledge and experience in LAN/WAN solutions, Routing.
• Good experience in solution design.
• Ability to act as a solutions integrator with multiple technologies.
• Strong interest in deepening knowledge and expertise.
• Proactivity and ability to have an end-to-end vision of mandates and solutions.
• Ability to lead a project and coordinate the activities of other technical resources.
• High autonomy and excellent time management and task prioritization skills.
• Network management experience would be an asset.
