We are currently looking to hire a Human Resources Benefits Analyst to join our Total Rewards Team. As the ideal candidate you bring a strong analytical approach as well as an understanding of the benefits industry and best practices. Others would describe you as an excellent communicator who strives to provide exceptional customer service.
The Total Rewards team, part of Emera's Corporate Human Resources Team, is responsible for the design, communication and administration of compensation, benefits, and pensions for Emera's Canadian affiliates. This position will be appealing to someone with previous experience managing benefits plans and who is looking for a role on a high performing team with room for growth.
Key elements of this role include:
- Managing the benefits portfolio (health, dental, insurances), including the administration of the benefit programs for the Canadian Affiliates of Emera;
- Providing superior service to our employees, retirees and service providers regarding benefits matters, as well as managing external vendors;
- Researching and implementing benefits best practices and suggesting and implementing continuous improvements to our processes and approaches;
- Facilitating changes to employee information as it relates to pension and benefits and managing all benefit communication materials for employees and retiree;
- This role requires an understanding of HRIS systems (i.e Peoplesoft) and will work closely with IT to manage benefits configuration;
- Preparing and delivering employee education sessions, including orientation sessions and general information sessions;
- Other ad hoc duties as required to support our Total Rewards team.

To thrive in this role, you recognize yourself in most of the following competencies and skills listed below:
- A post-secondary degree or diploma in Human Resources, or equivalent experience;
- Combined with a designation in employee benefits and/or pension plans, such as CEBS is preferred;
- Three plus (3+) years of benefits program management experience;
- Strong attention to detail and auditing for accuracy;
- Ability to handle demanding situations calmy and effectively;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to manage stakeholder relationships providing a high level of customer service;
- An understanding of pension plans or total compensation would be considered an asset.
