The Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists (NSCCT) invites applications for the position of Executive Director C Registrar (EDR).
The NSCCT is the provincial regulator of the profession of counselling therapy. Operating under provincial legislation, the NSCCT ensures that counselling therapists in Nova Scotia practice in a competent, ethical, and safe manner. Key regulatory functions include registration, continuing competence, professional conduct, and the development of practice standards.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the EDR is responsible for the effective leadership and administration of the College, ensuring fulfillment of its statutory mandate to regulate the profession in the public interest under the Counselling Therapists Act.
The EDR provides strategic and operational leadership across all aspects of the organization, including governance support, financial, and human resource management. The role also carries responsibility for the Registrar function, including oversight of registration, licensure, continuing competency, and complaints and discipline processes, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and administrative law principles.
The successful candidate will bring demonstrated executive leadership experience, including accountability for organizational performance, financial stewardship, and team leadership. A strong understanding of governance, regulatory frameworks, and registrant engagement is required. Experience working with or reporting to a Board and understanding of professional regulation is ideal.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate sound judgment, political acuity, and the ability to manage complex and sensitive matters with discretion and integrity.
- Designation as a Registered Counselling Therapist (RCT) is considered an asset but is not required.
- Relevant post-secondary education required (graduate or professional-level education preferred).

Salary range: $90,000-100,000 (28 hours/week)
