We are currently seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join our Finance team based in the Firm's Halifax, NS office.

The Opportunity:

Stewart McKelvey is currently seeking Senior Financial Analyst to join our Financial Planning & Analysis team.

The Senior Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Analyst is a newly created role designed to support the Firm's growing need for deeper financial insight, stronger forecasting capabilities, and enhanced strategic decision-making.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to help develop the Firm's new FP&A function, working closely with the Manager of FP&A to establish core processes, refine analytical frameworks, and support the team's evolution.

This role offers strong exposure to Firm and Department leaders and the opportunity to influence key financial and strategic decisions. Operating within a professional services environment with revenue and pricing dynamics, this role provides a unique opportunity to develop specialized FP&A expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Play a key role in shaping the evolution of the FP&A function, including management reporting, analysis, pricing, system upgrades and automation initiatives.
  • Support the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes by collecting and analyzing data, preparing templates, consolidating departmental submissions and generating insights and recommendations.
  • Deliver timely, accurate financial reporting and insights that enable leadership to make informed strategic and operational decisions.
  • Contribute to building a scalable FP&A function that supports data-driven decision-making.
  • Develop reporting and analytical tools that enhance visibility into financial performance across the Firm.
  • Maintain, update and enhance financial models to support scenario planning, sensitivity analysis, and long?range forecasting.
  • Analyze the financial impact of operational changes, pricing adjustments, strategic initiatives and key decisions.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline reporting processes, automate manual tasks, and improve workflow efficiency.
  • Evaluate cost and revenue drivers across departments to identify trends, risks, and efficiency opportunities.
  • Create ad?hoc analyses and reporting for Finance leadership and cross?functional stakeholders.
  • Perform additional duties and analytical projects as required to support the FP&A function

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Undergraduate degree in Business Administration or equivalent, with a focus in Finance, Accounting or a related field;
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in an FP&A or similar analysis role, (experience in a legal or other professional services environment would be considered an asset);
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (e.g., financial modeling, scenario analysis, use of complex formulas; experience with Power Query/Power BI is an asset);
  • High attention to detail;
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of the economics of a business; and,
  • MBA/CPA is an asset but not required.
