The Capitol Theatre is an 800-seat, fully restored historic performing arts centre located in the heart of Greater Moncton. As the largest presenter in New Brunswick, we welcome more than 125,000 visitors annually to over 150 performances and events each year.

The Opportunity
The Capitol Theatre is seeking a Director of Communications & Marketing to join our senior leadership team. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this individual will lead all aspects of communications and marketing strategy and execution for the organization.
This is a senior management role within a well-established, dynamic cultural institution. The successful candidate will be a creative and strategic thinker with a passion for arts and culture, a collaborative leadership style, and a commitment to excellence in both English and French.
Key Responsibilities
The Director of Communications & Marketing is responsible for the development, execution, and oversight of all internal and external communications and marketing initiatives, including:
Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead and support a communications and marketing team
- Collaborate closely with programming, development, box office, and production departments
- Manage relationships with media outlets
- Manage relationships with external suppliers (e.g., graphic designers, media buyers, consultants as needed)
- Ensure consistent brand standards across all platforms and touchpoints
Strategic Marketing & Audience Development
- Track and analyze marketing performance across all platforms against the Marketing and Revenue Optimization Plan
- Oversee and draft Membership communications
- Oversee "on sale" communications strategy and timelines
- Prepare and lead Season Launch materials and campaigns
- Commission and oversee creation of merchandise
- Develop promotional materials for bi-monthly art gallery exhibits
- Promote activities of the Theatre Academy
- Continually review and adjust promotional placements (billboards, featured shows, digital placements)
Communications & Content Leadership
- Draft all news releases
- Draft and oversee the weekly e-newsletter in both languages
- Write and oversee all website copy
- Oversee creation and programming of all social media content (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok) by Digital Marketing Co-ordinator
- Oversee communications in relation to the Fund Development Plan
- Manage the distribution of all events promotional materials across channels
- Prepare show posters and oversee distribution
- Review copy for all corporate communications (ie. Annual Reports, Theatre Academy communications, etc)
- Coordinate interviews with artists and members of the media
- Manage patron feedback and respond to inquiries and complaints in a professional manner
Reporting, Research & Engagement
- Review post-show surveys and identify trends and opportunities
- Monitor and review social media engagement and ROI
- Maintain ongoing evaluation of audience engagement and communication effectiveness
Bilingual Communications
- Provide or oversee all bilingual translation (French and English) across departments
- Ensure accuracy, tone, and cultural nuance in all communications
Qualifications & Experience
- 5-10 years of experience in communications or marketing
- Demonstrated experience in a senior or leadership role
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in both French and English
- Proven strategic marketing expertise, including digital and social media platforms
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable strategy
- Experience in arts, culture, nonprofit, or live events sectors considered a strong asset
- Creative, thoughtful team player with strong interpersonal skills
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $80,000 - $90,000
