The Department of Finance and Treasury Board, Revenue Administration Division, is seeking a highly capable, results?oriented, and experienced leader to serve as Manager, Tax Accounting. The successful candidate will provide strategic oversight of revenue accounting operations, ensure the integrity and accuracy of provincial revenue data, and support New Brunswick's financial accountability and long?term fiscal sustainability. This role requires sound judgment, strong analytical capabilities, and the ability to guide complex operational and financial processes within a fast?paced, service?driven environment.
Who we are:
The Revenue Administration division of the Finance and Treasury Board is responsible for administering tax programs, ensuring compliance with tax laws, processing tax revenues, and providing support and guidance to taxpayers and businesses. This includes managing tax collection, audits, and enforcement to ensure accurate and efficient revenue generation for government operations.
The division consists of the Research and Tax Administration Policy Branch, the Account Management Branch and the Audit and Investigation Services Branch.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Director, Research and Tax Administration Policy, the Revenue Administration Division is seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Manager to lead core tax operations for the province. This role oversees tax revenue processing, rebate and refund administration, financial reconciliations, and compliance with accounting principles. The Manager will guide their team to ensure the accuracy and integrity of tax data, support fiscal planning, streamline processes, and collaborate with internal and external partners.
A typical day may include one or more of the following tasks:
- Prepare, analyze and monitor the division's budget as well as revenue monitoring and trend analysis relating to property tax and consumption tax revenues.
- Oversee revenue accounting and FIS reconciliation.
- Ensure adherence to policies and procedures for various tax revenues, refunds and expenditures.
- Oversee processing of property tax revenue through various means, collection and account profiling of tobacco and fuel wholesaler accounts, provincial vehicle taxes and other miscellaneous revenues.
- Provide, monitor, and adjust expenditure estimates as required for Revenue Sharing Agreements, Pari-mutuel commissions and NB Electricity rebate.
- Provide direction to staff on accounting issues.
- Accounting functions include reconciliation of general ledger accounts, conducting internal audits on suspense accounts and/or other areas related to tax payments and composition of various financial statements to report revenues versus budgets or forecasted trends.
- Provide information for fiscal planning and ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Prepare revenue allocations, adjustments, and all year-end closing procedures.
- Primary contact for Office of the Comptroller and Office of the Auditor General during audits of accounting records and system performance.
- Supervise and guide Financial Analyst.
- Other related duties may be required.
Educational Qualifications and Experiences:
- A university degree and a recognized professional accounting designation such as CPA, CGA, CMA or CA.
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting management.
- Demonstrated experience in personnel management.

Asset Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates that have:
- Experience leading or supervising teams in a financial, accounting, or revenue?processing environment.
- Experience in process improvement, workflow optimization, or implementation of financial controls.
- Strong data analysis skills, including experience with financial reporting tools, tax revenue forecasting models, or complex reconciliations.
- Familiarity with financial information systems (FIS).
- Experience preparing fiscal or budgetary analysis in a government setting.

Salary: Pay Band 5 – $67,600 to $94,406 per annum
