The Student Services Specialist is a key player in creating an excellent and impactful student experience. Under the direction of the Student Services Manager, the Student Services Specialist will support the university's student base by acting as an advocate for the students' success in their chosen program of study. Using their knowledge of university policies and program curriculum, the Student Services Specialist will counsel students within a program of study and provide guidance in program and departmental procedures, policies, goals and objectives, and problem resolution.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Coordinate student schedules, course registrations, graduation, petitioning, withdrawals, documentation requests, and student orientation.
- Respond to student calls and e-mails courteously and professionally, using program-specific knowledge to help students reach their educational goals.
- Maintain and review records for accuracy on a student database (customer relationship management software), while adhering to accreditation standards.
- Assist with development of goals and objectives for the department to ensure student, faculty and administration needs are met.
- Develop, and sustain positive relationships across all departments to ensure an excellent student experience.
Key performance/success indicators:
- Students receive prompt, knowledgeable guidance and support throughout their programs of study, from enrolment through to graduation.
- Student records are kept complete and accurate, in keeping with accreditation standards.
- Student problems are defused by advocating for the student yet adhering to university policies, using diplomacy and tactfulness.
- Bachelors degree with a minimum one-year customer service experience OR any equivalent combination of experience and education.
- 1-2 years in a customer support environment.
- Experience in building and maintaining positive relationships with customers and other key stakeholders.
- Ability to analyse and interpret the needs of customers and offer the appropriate options, solutions, and resolutions required.
- Ability to work independently and to self-direct daily activities.
- Skill in the use of personal computers and related software.
- Skill in written and verbal communication.
- Ability to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.
- Ability to adapt to new technology.

Hours of Work:
This is a full-time permanent position (35 hours per week) under regular business hours. The position is based in Fredericton, NB, with the option to work remotely from anywhere in New Brunswick and attend in-person meetings as required. The ideal candidate resides in New Brunswick or is willing to relocate.
