We are searching for a Long-Term Care Assistant to join our Arborstone Enhanced Care team based in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

About the Opportunity
- Spending one on one time with residents to provide company, meaningful and appropriate conversation and support
- Answering call bells and redirecting residents when appropriate
- Supporting residents in recreation programming
- Assisting residents with eating under the direction of nursing staff
- Monitoring points of entry
- Assisting with family visits, meal services, daily activities and other tasks such as using technology
- Performing light housekeeping duties for residents (bed making, linen delivery, cleaning)
- Escorts residents to and from dining areas as required.
- Sets and clears tables, pours beverages, and delivers meals to residents as required.
- Under the direction of nursing staff, assists residents at mealtimes
- Performs light housekeeping duties in resident rooms such as tidying residents'/clients' rooms and collecting the garbage, cleaning closets, hanging clothing, making beds, cleaning wash basins, dental care cups, etc.
- Additional duties as assigned
About You
In addition to placing high value on continuous improvement, collaboration and accountability, you bring:
- Grade 12 education or non-academic equivalent.
- Must be willing to gain training related to role as per the facility's policy and guidelines and as reflected in the job duties. Examples could include, but not limited to, environmental hazard awareness (WHMIS); infection control practices, nonviolent crisis intervention, dementia awareness and food safety.
- Ability to provide a clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening upon hire
- Previous work experience that is client focused, safety minded, and covers a broad skillset
- Available to work shifts on days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Previous experience in senior care, group home, caring for a family member/friend will be considered an asset.
- A passion for the healthcare sector and/or ensuring seniors have access to quality accommodations, services and care
