Job Summary
The Registered Nurse IIC (Care Facilitator) is a registered nurse who functions in a leadership capacity, coordinating the daily activities of the emergency and critical care units, including admissions, discharge and transfer of patients. The Care Facilitator will be accountable for the continuity and coordination of patient care utilizing clinical judgment and critical thinking skills; assist with the development, implementation and evaluation of quality and patient safety initiatives; and ensure a high standard of patient care is maintained. The Care Facilitator will evaluate the effectiveness of patient care through such mechanisms as team conferences, ongoing feedback with team members/patients/family, and review of staff assignments. The Care Facilitator also participates as an active team member and acts as a liaison for team members in the interdisciplinary provision of care; facilitates and coordinates patient/family care with other disciplines, departments and programs; represents the department on committees; and performs other related duties as required.

Occasionally moves/lifts objects between 10 - 30 lbs., pushing and files, charts and equipment.
Regularly consults/interacts with other departments, units, and hospitals to coordinate timely patient/client/resident flow and to communicate regarding division/unit issues.
Regularly stands or walks to perform audits, give presentations, respond to patient/client/resident complaints and collaborate with the health care team to resolve issues.
Regularly performs fine finger/precision work on the computer or with machines that require accurate control and steadiness.
Visual concentration is required to view and report on documents, assess workplace situations, and/or to monitor the workplace regarding health, safety and risk management issues.

Job Qualifications
Graduation from an approved/recognized post-secondary nursing education program with a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing or equivalent education or training is required.
Current practicing licensure with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CRNNL).
Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Trauma Nursing
Core Curriculum (TNCC) and Canadian Triage Acuity course (CTAS) is required.
Minimum five (5) years' experience within the last (7) years in Emergency Nursing is required. Knowledge of continuous quality improvement concepts.
Demonstrated progressive leadership is a requirement.
Demonstrated organizational, leadership, interpersonal, team building, communication, teaching and decision-making skills. Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently.
Evidence of active involvement in continuing professional education development.
Evidence of active involvement and leadership in unit improvement, and quality/safety initiatives.
Proven ability to collaborate with Division Manager or Site Managers.
Membership in professional organizations/special interest groups would be considered an asset.
A satisfactory record of work performance is required.

*The successful applicant must complete the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) Certification in Emergency Nursing. The certification must be completed within 18 months of commencing the position.
