Position: Lead, Municipal Housing Development
The Housing Hub of New Brunswick is seeking a Lead, Municipal Housing Development who is equal parts strategic communicator, community connector, and project facilitator. As someone who is initiative-driven, you will identify and advance housing opportunities on municipal land and lead planning and execution of subdivision or multi-unit developments. You will play a central role in aligning stakeholders, creating engagement opportunities, and advancing a shared vision for affordable housing.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in multidisciplinary settings and is comfortable moving between technical details managing projects, leading public consultations, facilitating municipal partnerships, and promoting projects in the community. Your leadership will directly support the Housing Hub's mission of building diverse, inclusive, and affordable communities.
Key Responsibilities:
Community Relations and Partnerships
- Develop, build and maintain strong relationships with municipal leaders, developers, non-profits, and other partners.
- Represent the Housing Hub at meetings, events, and forums to promote development goals and generate interest in project participation.
- Serve as a communications liaison to align stakeholders on project milestones, timelines, and community benefits.
- Lead and support public engagement, community consultation, and collaboration with rural and Indigenous communities.
Municipal Planning & Development
- Coordinate the planning and delivery of affordable housing projects on municipal land.
- Oversee land-use strategies that align with community goals, policy guidelines, and affordability objectives.
- Facilitate visioning and allocation determinations to meet community need
- Guide feasibility assessments, including servicing capacity (water, sewer) and environmental considerations, in partnership with technical consultants.
- Identify opportunities to increase density and optimize land use to improve housing outcomes.
Project Management & Delivery Oversight
- Facilitate multi-stakeholder coordination to keep development plans on track, from feasibility, into pre-construction and through turnover.
- Manage development agreements, lot offerings, and infrastructure readiness.
- Oversee Expression of Interest (EOI) campaigns and review development proposals with a focus on alignment, equity, and impact.
- Support federal and provincial government funding applications.
- Cultivate partnerships with non-profit and private sector housing providers.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in a related field such as economic development, urban planning, social science, public administration, civil engineering.
- Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement, land development, municipal planning, or project management.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to navigate complex, multi-party projects.
- Understanding of real estate development, land-use planning, and community consultation processes.
- Strong organizational skills and comfort working in cross-functional environments.
- Bilingual in English and French
