The Finance and Treasury Board's Office of the Chief Information Officer has a career opportunity for a Senior AI Transformation Strategist to join our dynamic, progressive team of professionals in an environment in which employees can learn, grow, create, and support innovative strategies to help the Government of New Brunswick (GNB) deliver on transformational business objectives.

What you will do:

We are seeking a senior IT professional to identify, shape, and deliver enterprise AI-enabled solutions and automation opportunities across government.

This is a technical leadership role responsible for translating complex business needs into implementable AI solutions, guiding delivery from concept to production, and ensuring alignment with governance, privacy, security, and operational standards.

The successful candidate will act as a central connector across business teams, technical teams, and leadership to ensure that solutions are practical, scalable, secure, and deliver measurable value.

Senior AI Transformation Strategist responsibilities include:

  • Lead the identification and framing of high-value AI and automation opportunities across departments
  • Translate business problems into clear, implementable AI solution approaches
  • Lead end-to-end solution design across discovery, analysis, integration, implementation, and production readiness
  • Define enterprise solution patterns for AI-enabled automation and AI-assisted workflows, ensuring solutions work cohesively across platforms, systems, data, and business processes
  • Define integration patterns with existing systems, data sources, platforms, and workflows
  • Ensure solutions are secure, scalable, maintainable, and compliant with policies and standards
  • Provide expert advice to leadership on feasibility, risks, trade-offs, value, and implementation approach
  • Align AI solutions with governance, privacy, accessibility, service, and operational standards
  • Support delivery teams by removing ambiguity and ensuring clarity of direction
  • Oversee implementation to ensure alignment with solution intent and business outcomes
  • Evaluate tools, platforms, and vendors to support enterprise AI initiatives
  • Mentor team members and elevate internal capability in AI solution design and automation delivery
  • Support production readiness and operational sustainability of delivered solutions

Your attitude, skills, and interests are just as important as your area of study. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:

Need to have (Essential qualifications and skills):

  • A university degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related IT field and a minimum of eight (8) years of experience in solution design, business systems analysis, digital delivery, application delivery, or related fields. A combination of education, training and experience may be considered
  • Minimum one (1) to two (2) years of experience leading teams, projects, initiatives, or delivery efforts in a technical or solution-focused environment
  • Experience translating business needs into technical designs, solution approaches, requirements, or implementation plans
  • Ability to connect business needs to applications, data, platforms, and integrated solution delivery
  • Experience leading or guiding cross-functional business and technical teams
  • Experience with modern digital solutions, cloud platforms, integration patterns, or AI-enabled systems
  • Experience with AI-enabled solutions, automation tools, or workflow automation platforms (including emerging approaches such as agentic AI)
  • Strong understanding of system integration, APIs, data flows, and enterprise environments
  • Experience assessing technical feasibility, operational fit, and implementation risks
  • Experience working in complex organizations with multiple stakeholders

  • Experience with cloud platforms, integration patterns, APIs, and enterprise systems
  • Understanding of AI-enabled automation, copilots, retrieval-augmented solutions, or related implementation patterns

Nice to have (Asset qualifications):

Preference may be given to candidates that possess one or more of the following asset qualifications:

  • Experience working with large language models (LLMs), including designing, integrating, or implementing solutions that leverage LLM capabilities. Candidates should provide examples in their résumé demonstrating this experience.
  • Experience building or supporting solutions such as copilots, retrieval-augmented systems, or AI-assisted workflows using LLMs
  • Experience with Microsoft cloud, Power Platform, Azure, AWS, integration tooling, enterprise automation platforms, or comparable technologies
  • ITIL certification
  • PMP or other recognized project management certification
  • Agile delivery certification
  • Experience in government or other large enterprise environments

Salary:

Pay Band 6 - $78,546.00 to $104,494.00 per annum
