The Creditor Rights & Recovery Team at Burchell Wickwire Bryson LLP is growing! BWB is currently recruiting for a Collections & Foreclosure Portfolio Coordinator to join the firm on a full-time, permanent basis. This is a predominantly in-office role, based in BWB's office space at 1801 Hollis Street in Halifax, NS.

The Opportunity:

As an integral member of BWB's Creditor Rights & Recovery team, the Collections & Foreclosure Portfolio Coordinator will be cross trained in completing various processes within the department, and will be responsible for supporting lawyers by assisting with assigned portfolios of collections and foreclosure matters.

The successful candidate will be tasked with ensuring all assigned files move through the standard collections or foreclosure process in a timely manner, always guaranteeing clients' expectations are not only met, but also exceeded with every interaction.

In particular, the successful candidate's responsibilities will include:

  • Completing all file-related tasks on a high volume of collections and/or foreclosure matters for multiple financial and banking clients;
  • Communicating with clients, debtors, and other third parties over the phone or electronically in a professional manner to discuss the status of their file(s);
  • Utilizing various electronic systems to monitor files and statuses;
  • Tasks related to physical and electronic file management, including opening / closing files and conducting conflict checks per the firm's standard processes;
  • Assisting with the preparation and drafting of correspondence and legal documents;
  • Processing payments / payouts from debtors;
  • Assisting with skip tracing, arranging bailiff services, sending garnishment of wages to sheriffs' offices, and coordinating property listings and real estate management-related tasks, as necessary;
  • Providing occasional back-up reception coverage, as necessary;
  • General administrative duties including handling incoming and outgoing correspondence / mail, printing / copying / scanning documents, and liaising with the firm's accounting department;
  • Escalating and discussing more complex matters with the responsible lawyer; and,
  • Various other related duties as assigned.

The Ideal Candidate:

If you are a motivated and organized administrative professional with a keen eye for detail, an aptitude for technology, experience providing top-level client service, and enjoy working independently while also collaborating as part of a team, we want to hear from you!

Experience working within a legal environment, post-secondary education in paralegal studies or office administration, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite would be considered an asset.
