We are currently seeking a hands-on, accountable Yard Associate for our Fredericton location. As a key member of our front-line team, you will "own" the daily operation of the yard, ensuring it runs with pride and efficiency while providing a professional experience for our customers.
As a Yard Associate at Shaw Brick, you'll be responsible for the flow of materials and the safety of everyone in the yard. Key responsibilities include:
- Customer Engagement: Act as a front-line ambassador by providing knowledgeable, professional assistance to customers and contractors regarding product selection and loading.
- Inventory Management: Document incoming shipments for accuracy/damage, conduct regular cycle counts, and verify customer receipts against loaded materials.
- Logistics & Flow: Accurately pick, stage, and load outgoing orders. Assist in planning yard layouts to improve material flow and reduce over-handling.
- Equipment & Safety: Perform daily inspections of mobile equipment (forklifts), enforce PPE compliance, and maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment.
- Leadership: Assist with on-the-job training for new hires when required and uphold company safety policies at all times.
What You'll Need To Be Succesful:
- Experience: Previous experience in shipping/receiving or a warehouse environment.
- Technical Skills: Ability to safely and skillfully operate a forklift in tight spaces (certification/experience is a strong asset); basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office).
- Interpersonal Skills: You must be comfortable and confident engaging with customers daily. Exceptional communication skills and a service-oriented mindset are essential.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to handle heavy merchandise and work outdoors comfortably in all weather conditions.

Schedule & Benefits
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30 am - 4:30 pm, during the busy season
