This inventory competition is open for both full-time and part-time positions, allowing the City of Fredericton to fill Intermediate Clerk vacancies as they arise.

Description:

Join our energetic team as a Service Fredericton Intermediate Clerk, where you will serve as a welcoming voice and trusted resource for residents, businesses, visitors, and internal departments. In this role, you will help ensure the City runs smoothly by managing service requests, administering parking services, and responding to a wide range of inquiries—all as part of a supportive, high energy team.

As a Service Fredericton Intermediate Clerk, your primary focus is customer service in everything you do. You are a natural problem solver who can think outside the box, knowing that no two days are ever the same. This role requires adaptability, organization, and a positive attitude in a fast paced environment. To be successful, you must be well organized to meet competing deadlines, take initiative, and be able to work both independently and as part of a team. The incumbent will be required to work a shift position.

Qualifications required:

  • At least one (1) year of post-secondary education.
  • Exceptional customer service experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both official languages (English and French) at an intermediate level is required.

An equivalent combination of training and experience will be acceptable.

Work Experience desired:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of Customer Service experience.
  • Call Center or phone dashboard experience.
  • The ideal candidate will possess the ability to adapt to a changing environment, establish and maintain effective working relationships, and work as a team in an environment dealing with information of a confidential nature.
  • Knowledge of Oracle, Amilia, HotSpot, Salesforce, ODCC, Natterbox and/or other financial systems is desirable.
  • Knowledge of customer relationship management and work order systems that include knowledge articles and continuous improvement.
  • Thorough knowledge of modern office practices, procedures and equipment, including Microsoft 365 Suite.
  • Understanding of municipal government departments and systems.
  • Knowledge of the street system and the geography of Fredericton is an asset.
  • Resource Management – Understanding of Bylaws and Department policies.

What You'll do:

  • Receive requests for services from the public, contractors, outside agencies or internal departments, processing and transmitting information and instructions, tracking the activities of others, and dispatching personnel.
  • May be required to perform quick and accurate assessments of calls and handle stressful situations.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, having a personal commitment to the teamwork concept. Maintain a flexible attitude and contribute positively to the operation.
  • Prepare reports for departments as required.
  • Create cases for city departments.
  • Create work orders for city departments.
  • Provide quality customer service over the phone and through written correspondence to residents of Fredericton.
  • Creates and updates statistics.
  • Work may vary according to the time of year.
  • Other duties as required.

  • Competitive salary $2,294.89 - $2,507.69 (CUPE Local 1709 Salary Scale, Level G).
  • Bi-weekly benefit spending allowance of:
    • $268.03 (full-time employees).
    • $167.52 (part-time employees) with a minimum of 18 hours per week.
