Position Title: Human Resource Coordinator
Reports To: General Manager
Job Summary
The HR Coordinator (HRC) is responsible for supporting and coordinating the organization's human resource functions, ensuring the effective delivery of HR programs, policies, and services across the company. This role will play a key part in building and maintaining a structured HR foundation in a growing organization of approximately 50 employees.
Working closely with leadership and managers, the HR Coordinator will support recruitment and onboarding, employee relations, HR administration, benefits coordination, and compliance with employment legislation.
The role will also assist in developing and maintaining HR policies, processes, and best practices that support a positive workplace culture and organizational growth.
The HR Coordinator will be a proactive and organized HR professional who enjoys working in a dynamic environment and is comfortable supporting a broad range of HR activities while helping to strengthen the company's people practices.
It is imperative the HRC acts with poise, pride and integrity while representing the company in the community.
Responsibilities
The specific job duties for this role are broad, and encompass HR, project management and clerical duties:
Human Resources Administration
- Coordinate and administer day-to-day human resource operations and maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation.
- Maintain and update employee files, HR databases, and internal HR systems.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Support management with HR-related inquiries and provide guidance on HR policies and processes.
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Lead and coordinate the full recruitment process including job postings, candidate screening, interview scheduling, reference checks, and preparation of employment offers.
- Support hiring managers in recruitment planning and best practices in candidate selection.
- Coordinate onboarding and orientation programs for new employees to ensure a smooth integration into the organization.
- Ensure all required employment documentation is completed and maintained.
Employee Relations & Performance Management
- Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on HR policies, workplace practices, and employee relations matters.
- Assist managers with performance management processes including performance reviews, documentation, and improvement plans.
- Participate in employee meetings including disciplinary discussions, investigations, and terminations as required.
- Support initiatives that promote a respectful, inclusive, and productive workplace culture.
Compensation & Benefits Administration
- Assist in the administration of employee benefits programs and respond to employee benefit inquiries.
- Coordinate benefits enrollment, changes, and communications with benefit providers.
- Assist with payroll coordination and ensure accurate employee data and records are maintained.
- Support compensation reviews and HR reporting as required.
Compliance & Policy Management
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation, workplace regulations, and company policies.
- Assist in developing and updating HR policies and employee handbook materials.
- Maintain knowledge of current HR legislation and recommend updates to policies and procedures when required.
HR Programs & Organizational Support
- Assist with workforce planning and HR initiatives that support organizational growth and operational needs.
- Support employee engagement initiatives, training coordination, and HR projects.
- Prepare HR reports, metrics, and documentation for management as required.
- Contribute to building a structured HR function as the organization continues to grow.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's or college degree in human resources, business administration, or similar.
- CPHR professionals or enrollment as a CPHR Candidate is advantageous.
Experience
- A minimum of 3 years of experience as HR representative with experience of the full HR employee life cycle or similar.
Skills/Competencies
- Strong communication and active listening skills (fluent in English).
- Strong ability to multitask in this fast past, yet rewarding environment.
- Excellent computer skills and good experience with Office 365 products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint to name a few.
- Understanding of HR legislation, policies, and procedures.
- Good understanding of HR evaluation metrics and methods.
- Good knowledge of recruitment practices and techniques.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional analytic and problem-solving abilities.
- The ability to ensure confidentiality to protect the interests of clients, clients employees and reputation of Fresh Choice Foods.

Special Requirements/Training
- A valid NB Driver's License.
Working Conditions
- Most job duties will be in office.
- Monday to Friday work week, day-time hours, 40 hours a week.

- Occasional networking requirements to represent company may be needed.
