We have an immediate opening for a Firm Accountant and are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our team and help support the firm's day-to-day affairs. Position Status: Permanent, Full Time, with Group Benefits

Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing accounting support to the firm and the C.O.O.
  • Ensure adherence at all times to firms established accounting policies and procedures
  • Complete all functions pertaining to the Trust Account, ensuring trust regulations are always followed
  • Manage accounts payable and disbursement functions for the firm
  • Prepare invoices and issue cheques for the office as requested.
  • Prepare and complete bank and cheque deposits
  • Complete bank reconciliations monthly
  • Participate in annual trust audit
  • Contribute to annual financial statement preparations

Skills and Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in accounting along with 1-3 years of accounting experience in a law firm preferred
  • Knowledge of Trust processes and regulations
  • Accurately follows instructions and asks questions to clarify requirements & ensure work is done properly
  • Organized, highly detail-oriented, and able to effectively prioritize
  • Energetic and flexible team player, willing to pitch in wherever necessary
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Takes initiative and able to effectively problem-solve
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to remain calm under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Professional and tactful communication style with strong grammar and spelling skills

  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm
  • Status: Permanent, Full Time
  • Probation: Three-month period
  • Salary: Commensurate with experience
