Stevens Group of Companies is a privately held, third-generation family business headquartered in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. The group includes a design-build construction company (B.D. Stevens Ltd.), a ready-mix concrete supply, long-term care homes, a commercial door and frame supplier, various commercial real estate properties, and more.

Reporting to the Director of IT, the IT Administrator will play a key role in protecting and strengthening Stevens Group's technology environment. You'll take ownership of the security, stability, and performance of the Group's networks and infrastructure while ensuring reliable connectivity across all business units. This is a highly visible, hands‑on role for a strong network and security professional who wants variety, ownership, and impact. Working closely with the Director of IT, you'll help modernize infrastructure, elevate cybersecurity, and support teams across a diverse and fast‑moving organization.

Your Core Responsibilities

  • Own the security, performance, and reliability of the Group's network and IT infrastructure
  • Act as the go‑to expert for network, cybersecurity, and infrastructure matters
  • Lead and continuously improve firewalls, VPNs, access controls, and security monitoring
  • Strengthen cybersecurity standards, policies, and best practices across the organization
  • Ensure uptime and connectivity across multiple locations and environments
  • Plan, deploy, upgrade, and optimize servers, networks, and related systems
  • Troubleshoot complex issues quickly, minimizing downtime and risk
  • Monitor systems, assess vulnerabilities, and proactively mitigate threats
  • Maintain clear IT and security documentation, backups, and recovery plans
  • Manage and mentor the help desk team
  • Serve as a key backup to the Director of IT during absences
  • Contribute to long‑term IT and security strategy while pitching in where needed

Your Qualifications

You're a hands‑on IT professional with strong network and security expertise who enjoys variety, taking initiative, and making practical improvements.

  • Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or related field
  • Relevant professional certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Microsoft, Watchguard, Fortinet, or equivalent cybersecurity/network security credentials
  • Minimum 3-5 years of proven experience in IT administration or network administration roles
  • Solid knowledge of networks, firewalls, servers, and security best practices
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity risks and mitigation strategies
  • Organized, proactive, and comfortable leading and supporting others
  • Clear communicator with strong problem‑solving skills
  • Curious, adaptable, and eager to try new ideas and make an impact
