POSITION SCOPE:

The RN will lead by example using the Eden Philosophy of Care and thus demonstrate the key importance of resident choice, resident flexibility and resident relationships when interacting with the residents, their families, and all health care providers. The RN will assist the RN Clinical Leads with identifying the residents' needs and the process of development, implementation, modification, and evaluation of Nursing Care Plans using the Eden Philosophy of Care in the multidisciplinary team environment. The RN will help residents maintain their individual optimum health status through relief of the effects of disease and improvement of functional status to enjoy the best possible quality of life. The RN will create learning opportunities acting as a resource person and a mentor to all health care providers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Currently registered with the College of Registered Nurses of Nova Scotia
• Current First Aid/CPR certification
• Demonstrated leadership, organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work in the role of the Charge Nurse
• Ability to promote and maintain good interpersonal relationships when dealing with residents, families, staff, other healthcare providers and departments
• Demonstrates excellent assessment skills, and can evaluate competencies of staff as it relates to clinical practices
• Demonstrated ability to hold resident multidisciplinary assessed PATH meetings
• Progressive nursing experience of at least five years with demonstrated leadership, team building and mentoring skills
• Demonstrate, by personal actions and appearances, a professional role model for other nursing staff, healthcare providers and the community
• Demonstrated commitment to excellent resident care utilizing evidence based best practice
• Must possess good written and oral communication skill and ability to present ideas in a well-organized fashion
• A positive attitude
• Ability to analyze challenging situations and provide creative solutions as necessary
• Ability to aid with problem solving and the development of action plans
• Eden Alternative associate training
• Alzheimer's and Other Related Dementia Care Course
• PIECES trained
• Gerontological Nursing courses
• PATH trained
