Service New Brunswick is seeking an individual to join the Laundry and Linen Services Branch within Health Services Division as a Maintenance Repairworker 1 at the Saint John Laundry facility on King William Road.

Reporting to the Laundry Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities, but are not limited to:

  • Performing plant maintenance including the maintenance and repair of equipment (basic plumbing, basic electrical, basic carpentry, install and remove appliances);
  • Maintaining ventilation systems: changing filters;
  • Helping the rest of the maintenance staff in doing trade related maintenance;
  • Coordinating and prioritizing work orders;
  • Maintaining inventory (supplies, parts, appliances, etc.);

Related duties may be assigned as necessary for operational requirements.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of high school or GED;
  • Experience at the semi-skilled level in the use of tools and equipment used in industrial mechanical settings;
  • Written and spoken competence in English is required.
  • Any additional skills or qualifications will be considered an asset.

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of safe operating procedures
  • Experience with routine maintenance operations
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow instructions.
  • Ability to work well with others as well as independently.
  • Good attendance record and strong work ethic.
  • Ability to adapt to a changing work environment.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • You must be available to work rotating days, evenings, nights, weekend, and Statutory Holidays.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Work schedule may be changed to meet operational needs.
  • The successful candidate will be required to undergo a Criminal History Clearance prior to appointment.

Hourly Rate: $28.72 - Canadian Union of Public Employees - Local 1190
