Operations Manager - Fish Inspection Services

Jump recruitment, on behalf of our client, Independent Dockside Grading and Twilight Enterprises is seeking an Operations Manager to join their team!

About the Company:
Independent Dockside Grading and Seafood Consulting is a worker friendly, highly energized group currently servicing over 120 ports and employing 100 valued seafood inspectors in Newfoundland and Labrador. The company has provided dockside quality and size inspections for live and fresh species including crab, shrimp, sea cucumber, whelk, turbot and cod for the past 23 years. Twilight Inspections has 2 full-time inspectors with 4 part-time and has been in business for 35 years. The company services the offshore fleet, inspecting frozen at sea shrimp, turbot, yellowtail and cod.

The role:
In this leadership role, you will have six highly competent supervisors that manage our valued inspectors in various regions of the province reporting directly to you.

What You'll Do:

  • Work in a small office environment, help grow our company, respect all team members, be proactive and willing to troubleshoot, all with a positive attitude.
  • Coordinate logistics with supervisors and inspectors to ensure coverage and accuracy in ports.
  • Recruitment of new inspectors when required to maintain high service level.
  • Attend various industry meetings.
  • Oversee training initiatives.
  • Occasional site visits across the province.
  • Detailed electronic reporting, spreadsheet, costing and proposal preparation.
  • Work flexible hours and be on call, especially in our peak period from April to the end of July.

What You Bring:

  • Business Degree or equivalent education.
  • 3 to 5 years managerial or equivalent experience.
  • High level computer skills producing cost analysis, etc. in excel, word and access.
  • Team leader.
  • Canadian driver's license.
  • Strong verbal and written communications.
  • Proficiency in the English language.
