JOB PURPOSE

The System Trainer will develop, maintain and deliver training for nursing/medical staff and users of Horizon's Health Information Systems (Meditech NUR, Meditech ED Module etc). The Trainer may provide education on workflow processes specific to system functionality.

Core educational components may include patient registration and admissions, clinical documentation, order entry, emergency department workflow management, and integration with related systems.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum of six years of experience working within a healthcare setting.
• Current experience with the use and functionality Information Systems.
• Ability to travel as required.
• Bachelor's degree
• Formal and/or informal experiences in education.
• Demonstrated superior communication and/or teaching skills.
• Demonstrated success in effective planning and coordination.
• Demonstrated facilitation, interpersonal and team building skills.
• Strong oral and written communications.
• Strong understanding of various health care providers' roles, scope of practice, and regulation.
• Process knowledge, ability to gather requirements and assist process improvements and changes.
• Experience in presentation delivery to various audiences (both planned and unplanned).

OTHER ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

• Good prior work record and demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis.
• Demonstrated adherence to all privacy legislation and corporation policies to ensure all confidential patient, business, financial and employee information is accessed on a need to know basis only (for required job duties) and is disclosed only to those that are authorized to receive it.

Note: Equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Training delivery. This will include classroom-based training, web-based training, and may include other innovative approaches to training. May also act as a Master trainer to teach others to deliver training to other staff.
• Collaborates with Managers, Organizational Learning and others to schedule training.
• Collaborates with other Trainers / Educators to ensure a common approach to training (where possible).
• Collaborates with super users of the systems to identify training gaps and opportunities for improvement in the delivery of relevant training.
• Ongoing evaluation and updates to training materials.

Note: These responsibilities are the primary duties associated with this position; other related duties may be assigned from time to time as deemed necessary for the operation of Horizon Health Network.

• Experience and/or training in Education or Adult Education.
• Broad experience in a variety of Health Care departments and settings.
• Highly motivated and able to work independently.
• Team oriented, motivated and enthusiastic.
• Ability to give prepared and on demand presentations.
• Demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritize workload.
• Demonstrated computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
• French language proficiency is an asset.
