Department Overview:

TD Private Banking (PB) serves the unique needs of High Net Worth and Ultra High Net Worth clients by offering a broad range of customized services to meet complex banking, deposit, and credit needs. Services are provided via different models and roles, specifically PB Full Serve, PB Direct, and Business Segment Bankers.

The PB Strategy and Solutions team is focused on delivering legendary client and employee experience, driving growth strategies, and overseeing business and risk operations associated with High Net Worth and Ultra High Net Worth segments. The focus is to support distribution partners, in the delivery of legendary client and colleague experiences.

Private Banking is a super growth business within Wealth and TD and on a multi-year growth and transformation journey to service HNW and UHNW clients across the Bank. Ultimately, the strategy will elevate our client and employee experience and meaningfully accelerate our achievement in the Private Wealth Management business growth aspiration.

Job Description:

Reporting to the Senior Manager, PB Operating Models, the Manager, Strategy and Business Management will work closely with the VP, Private Banking and the PB Strategy and Solutions Leadership Team in the development of the medium to long-term business strategy and execution of key strategic initiatives to support our goal to be the Private Bank of choice for HNW Canadian families.

The Manager will work closely with partners and leaders across Private Wealth Management and Wealth National Office, Region Heads, Market Managers as well as Product and Distribution partners across Canadian Personal Banking and Business Banking. This position requires a strategic thought leader who can solve problems, and drive positive changes through relationship management, impact and influence, business acumen and communication skills. Primary accountabilities of this role include but are not limited to the following:

  • Support the development of strategic roadmap, annual business priorities and OKRs for the business.

  • Report on progress against strategic objectives (BRS, Strategic Planning) and develop business management tools and processes to enhance ownership of outcomes within the business.

  • Develop, communicate and implement a holistic strategy for own specific business management function in support of and integrated with the overall business strategy

  • Provide day-to-day oversight of strategic outcomes, owning materials and collateral to support regular executive update meetings and progress, coordinating with stakeholders on upcoming deliverables, and proactively reporting status to Senior Leadership.

  • Undertake and complete a variety of special projects and initiatives, often of a highly sensitive nature, often with minimal supervision.

  • Conduct industry research to recommend best-in class service levels and relationship models for HNW clients

  • Use data insights to develop business cases and conduct analysis to support new initiatives and recommendations

  • Flawlessly operationalize solutions; developing and executing best in class Readiness Plans, including but not limited to: Communications, Training, Process and Procedures, Pilot and Rollout planning, and feedback cycles.

  • Act as a strategic partner by leading relationships with key enterprise partners and interfacing with respective leadership teams to effectively manage own business management area and clarify scope of accountabilities while influencing and aligning others as needed

  • Provide functional / business level communications to ensure messages to stakeholders and/or colleagues are consistent, appropriate and aligned to business strategies and executive management direction

  • Lead relationships with corporate and/or control functions to ensure alignment with enterprise and/or regulatory requirements

Job Requirements

  • 7+ years of relevant experience in the financial services industry

  • Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration or Commerce. MBA would be an asset.

  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills and strong interpersonal and leadership skills to facilitate working with senior management at all levels

  • Strong communications and project management experience

  • Strategic, visual and critical long-term thinking –"Thought Leadership";

  • Previous experience developing and executing strategies and delivering superior results in both the short and long term would be an asset.

  • Demonstrated relationship building skills, with the ability to make things happen through use of positive influence

  • Expertise in working effectively in teams – requires a track record of working cross-organizationally and with multiple stakeholders

  • Able to deal with significant ambiguity and constantly changing circumstances

  • Genuine curiosity for the Wealth business – the motivation to learn the different areas of Wealth and how they work together

  • Previous experience in Personal Banking, Private Banking, Wealth Management and/or Product Management would be an asset.
