SENIOR STATISTICAL ANALYST

The Department of Health is seeking an individual to join the Shared Analytics Branch as a Senior Statistical Analyst in Fredericton.
The successful candidate will be responsible for modeling complex Primary care space, discovering inefficiencies and identifying opportunities for health system improvement through the use of Statistical, algorithmic, data mining and visualization techniques.
As a Senior Statistical Analyst you will:
- Work with clients, data stewards, project/program managers, and other IT teams to turn data into critical information and knowledge that can be used to make sound organizational decisions;
- Perform data modelling and data linkages using different data sets that are maintained by organizations outside the Department of Health (i.e. Regional Health Authorities, Health Canada, Statistics Canada, Canadian Institute for Health Information, New Brunswick Health Council), while ensuring the data privacy and security guidelines are adhered to;
- Develop statistical methodology and advise on the practical application of statistical methodologies;
- Apply statistical theory and methods to provide information used to support various programs in the Department;
- Advise, participate in, and support the development of the program evaluation framework;
- Provide consultation regarding research design, data collection strategies and analysis for ongoing operation and special projects.

Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related area;
- A minimum of six (6) years of related work experience.
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
- Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability on your application.

In the event that this competition poses difficulties in recruiting a qualified candidate, a covering off appointment at a lower level may be made. In that case, candidates with less than the required related years of experience may also be considered.
Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates that possess one or more of the following asset qualifications:
- Experience with SQL
- Experience with PowerBI
- Experience with Statistical Packages for Social Sciences (SPSS), SAS, R
- Experience in developing workforce supply-demand models
Candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications, in addition to the essential qualifications, in order to be given further consideration.

Salary: $78,546 to $104,494 per annum (Pay Band 6)
