The Role - Associate Data Analyst
Atlantic Cultivation is looking for an Associate Data Analyst to join our Commercial and Retail Operations team.
Reporting to the Retail Demand Planner and VP of Commercial Operations, this role helps bridge retail operations, production planning, and business intelligence. You'll work with sales data, inventory data, and market insights to support forecasting, purchasing decisions, product planning, and inventory allocation across our retail network.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with data, spotting trends, and helping teams make better decisions based on real information.
Key Responsibilities
Forecasting, Reporting & Data Insights
- Analyze retail sales and inventory data to support forecasting and demand planning.
- Build and maintain reports that provide insight into product performance, sales trends, and customer purchasing behaviour.
- Translate data insights into recommendations for inventory levels, purchasing decisions, and product planning.
Inventory Planning & Allocation
- Support inventory planning across our retail locations to ensure stores have the right products at the right time.
- Monitor inventory levels and help optimize distribution across stores to maximize product velocity.
- Assist in managing large-scale inventory value across the retail network.
Purchasing & Order Coordination
- Assist with weekly purchasing and ordering processes required to keep stores stocked and operating efficiently.
- Help prepare allocation tables and receiving plans for incoming product shipments.
- Support coordination of approximately 20 purchase orders each week with both internal teams and the NLC.
Product Development & Market Insights
- Support the commercial team with the planning and launch of new cannabis products.
- Use sales data and customer insights to help identify product opportunities.
- Assist with preparing product information and documentation required for provincial board product submissions.
Retail Programs & Data Management
- Support retail sales incentive programs by tracking product performance and helping coordinate prizes, samples, or promotions.
- Identify underperforming SKUs that may benefit from promotional activity.
- Maintain product and inventory databases and ensure information is accurate and up to date.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in business, analytics, economics, or a related field, is considered an asset.
- 2+ years experience working with data analysis and reporting.
- Experience working in a controlled substance industry such as cannabis, alcohol, tobacco, is a strong asset.
- Various combinations of education and experience will be considered.
- Proficient in Excel is a must for this role. Training will be provided for advanced skill sets.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with numbers and trends.
- Good communication skills and the ability to explain information clearly to different teams.
- Organized and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Interest in retail analytics, inventory planning, or the cannabis industry is considered an asset.
Final candidates may be asked to complete a short Excel skills assessment related to inventory forecasting and sales analysis.
Job Specifics
- Normal hours are Mon to Fri, 830-430. Occasional OT may be required to complete priority work tasks.
- Incumbent must be able to report for work at our facility located on Captain Prim Drive in St. John's.
- Must be able to clear a Criminal Record Check.
