Job Summary
The purpose of the Registered Nurse IIB is to provide expert surveillance of high-risk maternal fetal patient population of Newfoundland and Labrador. This position is responsible for accurately performing biophysical profiles by ultrasound scanning of high-risk pregnant population; performing electronic fetal monitoring; assists maternal fetal medicine specialist with invasive prenatal diagnostic procedures; and precisely and accurately documents and relays critical health information regarding mothers and fetuses to appropriate providers within the circle of care. The Registered Nurse IIB will be responsible for interprovincial, and sometimes national collaboration and coordination of multidisciplinary plan of care of high risk maternal fetal patient population. This position will also provide ongoing psychological support for patients and families who are currently experiencing or have previously experienced high-risk pregnancy complications.

Regularly consults/interacts with other departments, units, and hospitals to coordinate timely patient/client/resident flow and to communicate regarding division/unit issues.
Regularly stands or walks to perform audits, give presentations, respond to patient/client/resident complaints and collaborate with the health care team to resolve issues.
Regularly performs fine finger/precision work on the computer or with machines that require accurate control and steadiness.
Visual concentration is required to view and report on documents, assess workplace situations, and/or to monitor the workplace regarding health, safety and risk management issues.

Job Qualifications
Graduation from an approved/recognized school of nursing program is required.
Current practicing licensure with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CRNNL) is required.
Minimum of five (5) years' experience within the last seven (7) of high risk labor and delivery in a tertiary care center is required.
Successful completion of a 12-month course of study in Obstetrics and Gynecology Ultrasound from The Burwin Institute of Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound is required.
Successful completion of a 6 month course of study in Physics and Instrumentation from The Burwin Institute of Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound is required.
Successful competition of a Minimum 6 to 8 week?s preceptorship in learning the advanced technical skills of Ultrasound Fetal Surveillance is required.
Current knowledge of updated clinical practice guidelines.
Demonstrated ability to coordinate care and collaborate regularly with other specialties including Medical Genetics, Neonatology, Pediatric Surgery, Pediatric Cardiology and Radiology.
Evidence of active involvement or willingness to participate in continuing professional education development.
Knowledge of continuous quality improvement concepts.
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
