Reporting to the Senior Manager, Mass Stewardship & Engagement, the Senior Specialist, Video Editing & Marketing leads the end-to-end creation of high-impact video content that supports donor acquisition, stewardship, and engagement across all mass fundraising channels. This role also has a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Manager, Communications AV, to ensure alignment on brand standards, video production practices, access to equipment, and technical training requirements.

This role owns the video production lifecycle for mass marketing within philanthropy-from creative concept and script development through production, post-production, and performance optimization. You will collaborate closely with internal marketing, communications, and creative teams, as well as external vendors and contractors, to deliver compelling, donor-centric storytelling that drives engagement, conversion, and long-term supporter value.

The ideal candidate is a highly organized, creative editor with strong storytelling instincts, technical production expertise, and a data-informed mindset. You thrive in fast-paced environments, balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution, and are passionate about using video to inspire action and deepen connection to purpose.

In this role as Video Editor & Marketing, you will:

  • Lead the editing and production of high-performing video content that supports fundraising, acquisition, and donor stewardship across digital channels.
  • Translate fundraising objectives into compelling, emotionally resonant video storytelling that drives action.
  • Write and refine video scripts optimized for paid media, social, email, and web (Meta, YouTube, TikTok, etc.).
  • Manage light production coordination as needed (scheduling, vendor support, basic shoot logistics) to ensure projects are delivered on time and within scope.
  • Oversee post-production including editing, music selection, voiceovers, and final asset delivery in alignment with Canadian Red Cross brand and accessibility standards.
  • Analyze video performance metrics and apply insights to improve engagement, conversion, and retention outcomes.
  • Collaborate closely with Mass Marketing, Donor Experience, and Communications partners to align creative with campaign strategy.
  • Maintain an organized philanthropy video asset library and ensure compliance with legal and advertising standards.
  • Stay current with industry trends, tools, and storytelling techniques.

What we are looking for:

  • 6-9 years of experience in video production, editing, content creation, or multimedia storytelling.
  • College diploma or university degree in Film Production, Digital Media, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience managing video projects from concept through completion.
  • Strong scriptwriting skills for digital ad platforms and multimedia platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in fast-paced environments.
  • Knowledge of video production and editing tools and software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, AfterEffects, Audition, and Adobe Creative Suite software, and audio equipment).
  • Strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience collaborating with external vendors and creative partners.
  • Ability to incorporate data and insights into creative optimization.
  • Familiarity with paid media creative and best practices is a requirement (Meta, TikTok, YouTube, etc.).
  • Passion for storytelling with purpose and impact.
  • Experience with motion graphics or design an asset.
  • Fluency in English is required; French is an asset.

Working Conditions:

  • The role includes occasional fieldwork, deployment to emergency operations, and office-based work during non-deployment periods. Occasional travel for meetings, planning sessions, or fundraising events will be required.
  • This role is primarily hybrid/remote; however, regular travel to our Ottawa office is required to support video production in our on-site studio.
  • Potential domestic or international travel to unsafe or high-stress environments; exposure to major adverse conditions requiring personal safety management.
  • Work requires the ability to work to multiple, business critical, and conflicting deadlines.
  • Work requires interactions in difficult, emotionally charged situations.
  • Work requires interactions and support to clients who are experiencing traumatic situations.
