This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced maintenance leader to oversee maintenance operations across Midland's Ontario network. Reporting to the Director, Fleet Maintenance, the Maintenance Manager will provide leadership for both the Brampton and Cambridge maintenance facilities, ensuring equipment reliability, operational excellence, and the ongoing development of high-performing teams.

As a key member of Midland's maintenance leadership team, you will be responsible for driving maintenance performance, improving fleet utilization, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and fostering a culture focused on safety, accountability, and results. Role Overview
Reporting to the Director, Fleet Maintenance, the Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading maintenance operations across Midland's Ontario facilities, with direct oversight of the Brampton maintenance operation and leadership support for the Cambridge shop. Working with a Shop Supervisor in Cambridge, you will ensure the safe, reliable, and cost-effective maintenance of Midland's fleet while supporting operational requirements and business objectives.

This role combines people leadership, operational management, and continuous improvement, with accountability for maintenance performance, fleet reliability, safety, efficiency, and cost management. The successful candidate will be a collaborative leader who thrives on developing people, improving processes, and driving measurable results.

Your Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership and oversight for Midland's maintenance operations in Brampton and Cambridge, travelling regularly between locations to support operational objectives and team success.
• Monitor, track, and report on key maintenance performance indicators, developing action plans to improve results when targets are not achieved.
• Drive performance in areas including fleet reliability, preventative maintenance compliance, safety, utilization, efficiency, and maintenance cost management.
• Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to ensure equipment availability, support operational requirements, and maximize fleet utilization.
• Coordinate with frontline maintenance leaders to optimize maintenance activities, achieve preventative maintenance compliance goals, and control maintenance costs.
• Support long-term fleet planning initiatives, equipment lifecycle management, and fleet acquisition strategies.
• Support fleet acquisition and disposal activities, including the commissioning of new equipment and coordination of equipment transitions throughout the asset lifecycle.
• Ensure work orders are opened, managed, and closed accurately and on time, maintaining high standards for documentation, coding accuracy, and maintenance reporting.
• Champion continuous improvement initiatives and support the implementation of maintenance best practices across Ontario operations.
• Collaborate with maintenance leadership across the organization to identify opportunities for operational improvement and share best practices.
• Lead the implementation of special projects, operational improvements, and organizational change initiatives.
• Develop, coach, and mentor direct and indirect reports while fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, and professional growth.
• Ensure employees receive the training, onboarding, and ongoing development required to maintain compliance, support career growth, and meet operational standards.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with Operations, vendors, contractors, and key stakeholders.
• Support budget objectives through effective planning, resource allocation, and performance management.
• Ensure compliance with all company, regulatory, environmental, and safety requirements.

Qualifications

As the ideal candidate, you are a results-oriented maintenance leader with a strong combination of technical expertise, business acumen, and people leadership capability. You understand the importance of balancing operational performance, team development, and continuous improvement within a fast-paced transportation environment.

Your Qualifications include:

• Trade certification, technical diploma, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• 7+ years of experience within fleet maintenance, transportation, trucking, heavy equipment, industrial, or related maintenance environments.
• Previous experience leading maintenance teams, maintenance operations, or multi-site maintenance functions.
• Proven ability to coach, mentor, and develop employees and frontline leaders.
• Strong technical and analytical skills with the ability to use data and performance metrics to drive operational improvements.
• Experience managing preventative maintenance programs and supporting fleet reliability initiatives.
• Strong understanding of maintenance operations, asset utilization, and continuous improvement practices.
• Excellent communication, leadership, organization, and relationship-management skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Experience supporting maintenance budgets, operational planning, and cost-management initiatives is considered an asset.
