Who we are looking for

We are looking for an experienced and passionate individual to take on the position of Brewhouse Supervisor.

Reporting to the Head Brewer and Brewhouse Lead, the Brewhouse Supervisor plays an integral role in the day-to-day operations of the brewhouse and production of world-class beer. The Brewhouse Supervisor helps to oversee daily brewhouse operations and staff in addition to performing typical production brewer responsibilities.

Responsibilities of the Brewhouse Supervisor include, but are not limited to:

  • Help to manage the brewhouse staffing schedule
  • Supervise the daily work of the Brewhouse team, ensuring ongoing and consistent adherence to standard operating procedures as well as safety and quality protocols
  • Identify and resolve production-related issues in a timely manner
  • Monitor and assess the quality of the product throughout all stages of production; grain to glass
  • Ensure ongoing cleanliness and sanitation of the brewhouse and equipment
  • Adapt brewhouse activities to the changing needs of production and packaging
  • Represent the brewery and its brand at industry, trade and promotional events, beer tastings and other fun times
  • Supervise and participate in CIP/SIP duties
  • Oversee early and late shifts as appropriate. Schedule in conjunction with the Brewhouse Lead

Required Knowledge and Experience

  • 5+ years experience in creating / developing quality craft beer
  • Post-secondary education in brewing / brewery management preferred
  • Post-secondary education in food science, biology and/or chemistry also a benefit
  • Experience in supervising and leading teams
  • Computer literate (MS Office, e-mail, etc.)
  • Experience operating a forklift considered an asset. Post-hire training / certification required

Work Environment, Conditions and Required Physical Capabilities

  • Ability to perform physically demanding, repetitive physical tasks for extended periods of time
  • Job requires manual dexterity, attention to detail and hand-eye co-ordination
  • Walking and standing for extended periods including bending, twisting, crouching and kneeling at times
  • Regular lifting of up to 25 kg. Occasional team lifting of 25+ kg
  • Cold, wet/damp environment at times
  • Ambient industrial noise
  • Brewing-related odours

Schedule:

  • Four 8-hour shifts/week, concentrated on early and late work supervision
  • Shifts ranging from early morning to late evening Monday to Friday
  • Occasional evening or weekend work may be required
  • Brewhouse labour scheduling is under review and subject to change

Job Type:

Permanent, 32 hours/week

Salary:

$54,000 - $56,000 per year (dependent on experience)
