JOB PURPOSE
The position is responsible for overseeing the monitoring and maintaining of point of care testing in an area/zone.
QUALIFICATION:
- Graduate of an accredited school of Medical Laboratory Technology.
- Holding a practicing (non-temporary) license and in good standing with the New Brunswick Society of Medical Laboratory Technologists.
- Must have a minimum of three years of related experience.
- Ability to attend work on a regular basis.
- Ability to perform the duties of the position.
- Good work record.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Point of Care Coordinator is responsible for:
- Assisting in the development, implementation, monitoring and auditing of procedures, policies and quality assurance programs
- Ensuring on-going laboratory compliance with accreditation standards
- Evaluating new tests, instruments, and technology; validating manual kits/tests, instruments, and reagents; ensuring performance; participating in instrument trials
- Developing of standard operating procedures
- LIS functionality, work with SNB and/or vendors to ensure proper interface, perform system modifications, ensure system audits are completed
- Providing training of non-lab health care professionals, ensuring competency and adherence to procedures and recertification
- Managing of inventory and supplies including auditing and communication with vendors
