JOB PURPOSE

The position is responsible for overseeing the monitoring and maintaining of point of care testing in an area/zone.

QUALIFICATION:

• Graduate of an accredited school of Medical Laboratory Technology.
• Holding a practicing (non-temporary) license and in good standing with the New Brunswick Society of Medical Laboratory Technologists.
• Must have a minimum of three years of related experience.
• Ability to attend work on a regular basis.
• Ability to perform the duties of the position.
• Good work record.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Point of Care Coordinator is responsible for:

• Assisting in the development, implementation, monitoring and auditing of procedures, policies and quality assurance programs
• Ensuring on-going laboratory compliance with accreditation standards
• Evaluating new tests, instruments, and technology; validating manual kits/tests, instruments, and reagents; ensuring performance; participating in instrument trials
• Developing of standard operating procedures
• LIS functionality, work with SNB and/or vendors to ensure proper interface, perform system modifications, ensure system audits are completed
• Providing training of non-lab health care professionals, ensuring competency and adherence to procedures and recertification
• Managing of inventory and supplies including auditing and communication with vendors
