Not only is the department responsible for managing over 18,000 kilometers of provincial highways, it also manages the planning, design and construction of hospitals, schools and other government buildings.
What you will doThe Construction Branch manages the Department's highway and bridge construction program which includes oversight of paving, chip seal, culvert, and bridge contracts. The Branch is also responsible to maintain, develop and implement the various construction specifications, standards, testing procedures, and ensure consistency in their application.
Reporting to the Resident Engineer, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
- working on structures, grading or paving projects and contracts;
- inspecting of work to ensure compliance with departmental standards and specifications;
- tracking quantities and associated calculations;
- liaising between the Department and Contractors, landowners or other agencies;
- ensuring quality control and quality assurance;
- ensuring safety on work sites;
- recording construction activities in the field and preparing Daily Work Reports;
- supervising Departmental staff as required.
Work environment:
- Office location: 9 Boyd Street, Edmundston, N.B, E3V 4H4.
- Open office layout.
- Standard hours of work: Monday ¿ Friday

- Some travel within the province will be required.

Essential Qualifications:
Engineering and Field Level VI:
- A two (2) year post-secondary diploma in a Civil Engineering Technology program with a minimum of five (5) years of related work experience.
- Must be a member, or be eligible for membership, in the New Brunswick Society of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (NBSCETT) or Registered as a Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists with a Canadian regulatory body.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick.
Engineering and Field Level V:
- A two (2) year post-secondary diploma in a Civil Engineering Technology program with a minimum of four (4) years of related work experience.
- Must be a member, or be eligible for membership, in the New Brunswick Society of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (NBSCETT) or Registered as a Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists with a Canadian regulatory body.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick.
Engineering and Field Level IV:
- A two (2) year post-secondary diploma in a Civil Engineering Technology program with a minimum of three (3) years of related work experience.
- Must be a member, or be eligible for membership, in the New Brunswick Society of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (NBSCETT) or Registered as a Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists with a Canadian regulatory body.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick.
Engineering and Field Level III:
- A two (2) year post-secondary diploma in a Civil Engineering Technology program with a minimum of two (2) years of related work experience.
- Must be a member, or be eligible for membership, in the New Brunswick Society of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (NBSCETT) or Registered as a Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists with a Canadian regulatory body.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick.
Engineering and Field Level I:
- A two (2) year post-secondary diploma in a Civil Engineering Technology program.
- Must be a member, or be eligible for membership, in the New Brunswick Society of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (NBSCETT) or Registered as a Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists with a Canadian regulatory body.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick.
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability.

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate the following assets:
- skills/experience in road construction.
- experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

SALARY:
Engineering and Field Level VI: $2,126.00 to $2,671.00 bi-weekly, based on 36.25 hours per week.
Engineering and Field Level V: $1,935.00 to $2,434.00 bi-weekly, based on 36.25 hours per week.
Engineering and Field Level IV: $1,763.00 to $2,211.00 bi-weekly, based on 36.25 hours per week.
Engineering and Field Level III: $1,622.00 to $2,036.00 bi-weekly, based on 36.25 hours per week.
Engineering and Field Level I: $1,348.00 to $1,713.00 bi-weekly, based on 36.25 hours per week.
