DUTIES:
The successful incumbent will complete clinical assessments and ongoing risk management through the application of specialized knowledge and principles of child and youth development, family systems and child and adult mental health and addictions problems. Utilize advanced counseling skills for the development of therapeutic relationships with a high risk, complex youth population and their families. The incumbent coordinates and maintains interdisciplinary teams to provide effective intervention. The incumbent functions with a considerable degree of autonomy and independent clinical judgment in meeting accountabilities. Duties are performed in a variety of hospital and community based settings including client?s homes. This position will provide travelling clinics and regional consultation to internal and external partners as required. This position maintains accountability to the manager of Mental Health and Addictions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The incumbent must possess advanced clinical knowledge and skills in the areas of child and youth development, assessment, intervention, health promotion and community capacity building. The incumbent must have demonstrated competency in interdisciplinary collaboration, advocacy and strong decision making skills. The incumbent must demonstrate considerable analytical and facilitation skills together with strong written and oral communication skills and organizational skills. This position demands specific knowledge and experience in coordinating professional services to provide wrap around services to youth at high risk; with complex mental health and addictions needs, completing biopsychosocial assessments, and providing individual, family and group therapy.
The required knowledge and abilities for the position would normally have been acquired through progressively responsible work in the area of mental health and addictions in an interdisciplinary service delivery model for children, youth and families. Graduation with a Master?s Degree in Social Work is required, supplemented by at least (5) five years of related mental health and addictions experience particularly in the area of child development and youth with high complex mental health and addictions needs. The incumbent must be eligible for registration with the Newfoundland and Labrador College of Social Workers.
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position.
