Qualifications:
? High School or equivalency preferred, or a willingness to complete a competency test prior to hire;
? Some experience at the semi-skilled level in building, electrical or mechanical trades;
? Some knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and practices used in the building, electrical and mechanical trades;
? Some knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of several trades;
? Ability to perform tasks requiring mechanical aptitudes;
? Class 05 Driver?s License;
? CPR, TDG and Standard First Aid or willingness to complete within a reasonable time frame to be set by the employer;
? The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory certificate of conduct.
Duties (Included but not limited to):
? Opens blocked drains and repairs or replaces faucets when needed;
? Replaces light bulbs and switches, helps the electrician in major electrical maintenance and repair work, oil and adjusts electric motors;
? Mixes and applies plaster to walls and ceilings, lays floor and wall tiles, and repairs and installs locks;
? Paints buildings, rooms, walls or other surfaces as assigned;
? Washes floors, walls and ceilings and attends to other custodial tasks in buildings;
? Mows lawns in summer and shovels snow in winter;
? Collects and disposes of garbage;
? Fire Marshall duties;
? Assist tradesperson with any major repair work;
? Act as security for clinic and oversee NLHS?s staff personal protection while in Natuashish;
? Meets Labrador-Grenfell Health flights;
? Assists nurse with medical emergencies and any other needs;
? Participates in Quality Assurance duties;
? May be required to work alone;
? Other related duties as required.
