Senior Accountant


Jump Recruitment, on behalf of our client, The Western Group of Companies, is seeking a highly organized and proactive Senior Accountant in Corner Brook, NL to support their Accounting & Finance Team.

Position Overview:


This role plays a key part in financial reporting, analysis, and process improvement across multiple business lines. The successful candidate will bring strong technical accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Full-cycle accounting, including month-end and year-end close processes, journal entries, invoicing, and bank and general ledger reconciliations.
  • Support both non-dealership accounting and the preparation of year-end dealership working paper templates.
  • Oversight and review of accounts receivable and accounts payable.
  • Maintain balance sheet schedules and reconciliations.
  • Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial information.
  • Support and guide junior accounting staff with daily tasks and development.
  • Prepare manufacturer financial statements.
  • Apply and monitor internal controls and accounting best practices.
  • Perform expense and inventory analysis.
  • Assist with year-end audit requests and supporting documentation.
  • Develop and maintain financial and management reporting for senior leadership.
  • Process, review, and analyze payroll, with a focus on discrepancies and taxable deductions.
  • Ensure accounting policies, procedures, and controls are consistently and accurately applied across the organization.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • CPA designation (or currently in progress) strongly preferred.
  • 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles under ASPE.
  • Solid understanding of the monthly accounting cycle and year-end processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
  • Dealership accounting experience is considered an asset.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and collaboration abilities.
