Successful applicants may be eligible to receive the following:
- Urban recruitment incentive of $50,000.00 with a 2-year return of service.
- Moving expense reimbursement is also available.
What you will do
Responsibilities include inpatient and outpatient care, non-invasive diagnostics, and equal participation in echocardiography, ECG/Holter reporting, stress testing, CICU coverage, and on-call rotation. Outpatient volume beyond follow-up care is flexible. Leadership and professional development opportunities may be available. All cardiologists are part of the Division of Clinical Cardiology within the Departments of Cardiac Sciences and Medicine.
- Provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient diagnostic services (e.g., echocardiography, ECG, Holter monitoring, stress tests, and other imaging modalities as qualified).
- Participate in CICU rotations, daily inpatient rounds on the cardiac stepdown unit, and provide inpatient consultations and care.
- Offer outpatient consultations and follow-up after inpatient/emergency care, as well as elective specialty consultations for the regional medical community (volume/scope customizable).
- Ensure coverage of your outpatient practice during absences; report all absences (planned/unforeseen) in writing to the Division Head.
- Participate in the cardiology on-call schedule, including weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Negotiate service gaps in advance to maintain coverage.
- Practice in alignment with Horizon Health's mission and values, in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
- Engage in teaching, quality improvement initiatives, and research supporting Horizon's clinical mandate.
(Note: These responsibilities are the basic and prime duties associated with this position; other related and allied duties may be assigned from time to time as may be necessary to the operation of Horizon Health Network.)
Who you are
- Medical degree and Royal College certification in Cardiology.
- Licensed to practice in New Brunswick; in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of NB and the NB Medical Society.
- CMPA malpractice coverage appropriate to scope of practice.
- Proficient in inpatient and outpatient cardiology, including:
- Clinical cardiology consultation and longitudinal care
- CICU procedures (arterial/venous access, Swan-Ganz, IABP, temporary pacing, hemodynamic therapies)
- ECG, Holter, ABPM interpretation; comprehensive echocardiography (TTE, TEE, stress, 3D, contrast/bubble, strain)
- Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent attendance record and physical ability to perform duties.
- Proficiency in medical-level spoken and written English.
Preferred Assets:
- Fellowship training in a cardiology subspecialty.
- Experience with pacemaker/device interrogation and programming.
- Bilingualism (English/French) is a strong asset.
- Leadership experience in planning, strategy, and quality improvement.
- Experience in teaching and skill development for clinical teams.
- Interest in clinical or academic research welcomed.
The physician must also meet continuing education requirements, adhere to departmental and health authority policies, comply with relevant legislation, and follow professional ethical standards set by regulatory bodies.
