What is the opportunity?
RBC Insurance Technology team is undertaking multiple initiatives to enhance RBC's Insurance solutions. We're seeking a Senior Software Developer to contribute across the full development lifecycle, working with both newly developed applications using modern technology and established legacy systems. You'll employ Agile methods and practices, design scalable solutions, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver trusted insurance technology solutions that help our clients thrive.
What will you do?
Design, develop, test, and implement scalable applications across the Creditor and Home & Auto Insurance portfolio, supporting both new initiatives and legacy system enhancements
Build and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices using .NET/C# and other enterprise technologies, adhering to security protocols (JWT, OAuth2.0, SSL, encryption)
Conduct thorough unit and integration testing, develop automated testing frameworks, and optimize application performance
Collaborate with peers to write production-quality code, create technical design documents, and facilitate design reviews with stakeholders
Leverage CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices using tools like Jenkins, GitHub, Jira, and Nexus to ensure efficient software delivery
Estimate development activities and suggest process improvements aligned with business value and strategic initiatives
Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to the developer community's continuous improvement and best practices
Maintain comprehensive system documentation and ensure operating efficiency of existing application systems
What do you need to succeed?
Must Have
5+ years of professional software development experience in enterprise environments, with demonstrated expertise in designing and implementing production-grade applications
Strong proficiency in .NET/C# development with hands-on experience building RESTful APIs and microservices architectures
Hands-on experience with major database platforms (SQL Server, DB2) and proficiency in data analysis, query optimization, and complex database design and SSIS
Proven expertise with enterprise security frameworks, protocols (JWT, OAuth2.0, OIDC, SSL), and secure coding practices
Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and version control systems (Git/GitHub); experience with Jenkins, Nexus, Jira, and related tools
Demonstrated competency in Agile software development methodologies and ability to work effectively within distributed teams
Nice to Have
Experience in Financial Services or Insurance industry software development
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, OpenShift) and containerization (Docker)
Familiarity with JCL and batch processing systems
Familiarity with message-oriented architectures and messaging systems (MQ, Kafka)
