Come and join our team at The Sagewood!We are currently seeking a reliable and motivated individual for a Full-Time Dietary Aide position to help support our food services team and provide excellent service to our residents.

Under the direction or supervision of the General Manager, Food Service Manager and the Cook, the Dietary Aide is responsible for creating a human habitat and providing care and services to meet the needs of the elders in the cottages. The Dietary Aide works cooperatively and respectfully with residents, coworkers, families, visitors, and volunteers to create a positive and pleasant environment in our community.

Position Description

Accountable to the General Manager, Food Service Manager and the Cook. For the presentation, distribution, and clean up of meals and snacks for residents. Also responsible for ensuring resident well being and safety.

Responsibilities

Working under the general supervision of the Food Service Manager and takes direction from the Cook:

  • Preparation and pouring of juices and milk, portioning out of desserts and salads, preparation of fresh fruit for breakfast menus, buttering bread and toast.
  • Setting up nourishment carts with dishes required and nourishment items.
  • Setting up dining room tables and any trays for meal service
  • Assisting in serving meals in resident dining areas.
  • Clearing of dishes in all dining areas.
  • Following correct procedures, washing dishes, cutlery, pots and pans, and equipment used in meal preparation.
  • Cleaning duties as assigned (dishwashing areas and machine, floors, food wagons, garbage containers, counter areas, splashes around counters, all food storage areas and equipment).
  • Disposing of garbage, replacing with clean bags.
  • Participating in any in-service education programs provided by the facility

Qualifications

The ability to speak, understand, read and write English at a functional level.

The ability to adhere to schedules and meet deadlines.

Cleanliness and good personal hygiene required.

Must be physically fit and able to perform all aspects of the job.

An interested and cooperative attitude, particularly with the ability to benefit from training and in-service education.

Previous experience in institutional food service and familiarity with commercial equipment is an asset.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS

Standards/Scope of practice

Adheres to Standards of practice to the licensing body they are registered with.

Works in a safe manner and uses due diligence in the performance of duties.

Must be in good health and have the physical ability to squat, lift and stretch compatible with performance of duties.

Must have a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness.

Must be able to operate related equipment.

Must work in a co operative manner with other employees and able to work effectively under strict time constraints

HOURS OF WORK

Rosecrest Communities provides service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Hours of work will reflect operational requirements with the goal of providing safe resident care.
